Tire Pressure for Non-OEM tires (05 tC)
should i use the same tire tire pressure recommended by toyota/scion for my 18 inch tires ? when i bought the car it came with 17 or 16. i just a tire mounted and the guy there said they just put 32 psi on all tires !!!!

you can still go w/ oem specs, thats what i did and no problems
|
OEM pressures is what you want to follow.
|
32 psi is good, no matter the size tire you got...
|
that's what you should do anyway.
32/29 front/rear |
OF course, if you do autox it, I recommend 43 front, 39 rear. But, be sure to lower it back to spec after each event, or you will wear the tires badly and unevenly!
It is obvious that I am itching for autox to start back up this spring huh? :D |
i kept my oem wheels at 35-37psi as well as my new wheels.
|
At the place where I get my tires rotated (America's Tire), they do 31psi f/r.
|
Regardless of what the tire places say, run 32 front/29 rear. The cars weight distribution is where those numbers come from and you will get optimal wear characteristics that way.
If you run a tad higher to get a tiny bit more mileage, I would go 35/32, but I wouldnt go much higher. I ran the first set of tires on mine at that for a long while, and it was ok, but you could start seeing that it wore in the middle slightly more than the edges. And of course, rotate at every oil change. |
Been running my stock Yokos at 36F / 32R since new. Now after 2 yrs and 10k miles, wear is fairly even, actually a bit worn on the edges, more than in the center, since I"m fairly aggressive with corners/turns. Better mileage & performance than the stock reco pressure from scion/toyota, so I'm sticking with it, and have been doing the same on all my cars for over 30years.
|
i run 28 in the front and 32 in the rear, but i have a traction problem. but if your just cruzin then eom tire pressure is fine.
|
.. it's supposed to be 32 front... 29 rear
higher psi in front... |
