Tire Replacement Suggestions
Short version:
Tire recommendations for a daily driver on stock rims. I drive 100+ miles daily (all highway) and want something that is going to last. Performance is secondary to durability.
The longer version:
I've got about 30,000 miles on my current tires, they're in decent shape, but I'm not sure they'll get me through the winter. I drive ~100 miles daily, pretty much all highway, and am looking for something that will offer decent performance, but more so durability. I live in Rhode Island (no, it's not part of New York), and with winter coming around I'm hoping to get something that performs well in the winter, as well as all-seasons. Suggestions? Experience?
Thanks in advance.

225.45.17 has a few of options that would be good for you to look at. The Yokohama YK520 has a 520 tread wear and is a great all season performance tire. This is one of the tires we have had Yokohama build for us and it is everything we asked for. Long lasting, quiet, durable and performs well in all season type conditions. Also just to compare, look at Michelins Pilot Sport A/S and Pirelli's P6 four seasons. Both of these tires would fit your driving conditions as well but might not last quite as long.
I just ordered my first replacements since I bought my TC on 07-08-04. The factory Bridgestones are still holding up, but they have 50k miles on them.
I stuck with the factory rims because of cost, and because it's hard to find a better looking wheel for the TC. I ordered a set of 4 P215/45ZR-17 Continental ContiExtremeContacts from the TireRack.com. They're an Ultra High Performance All-Season tire. They have good ratings and the most miles in the comparison.
I eventually want to get some good coil overs to lower the car a bit and take advantage of the new tires. Toyota wants over $1400 for the TRD coil overs before installation before installation costs.
I hope whatever you decide on in your tire quest meets your needs and expectations. Best of luck!
