Default tire rubbing

I have a set of 18.8 tsw rims with 225 x 40 series tires.. im 1.7 in the front and 1.5 in the rear .. when i hit bumps i hear the tires in the front hit the plastic..

did any of you just take out the plastic inside the tire walls? or should i opt for a smaller series tire like a 35?

i have the same drop, on 235-40-R18

and no rubbing unless I hit a HUGE bump. just go slow and you wont have to worry about it

I put on a set of 18x8 +65 Gram Lights recently with a Hotchkis drop. I'm having the same issues and thinking more and more I'll have to go with smaller wheels.

it sure is a pain but if it makes it stop rubbing on the bumps im all for it.. and im not just talking big bumps.. i go around a corner pretty hard and get the slightest dip the car rubs then too.. so im thinking i might do the 35 series.. just to get that extra 1/2 inch of cushion

All i did was ride it out for a week and see exactly where it was that the tires were rubbing and cut it out instead of removing the entire mud guard. I have Tein H techs on 18x8.5s all around and used to rub like crazy on bumps!

are you rubbing on speed bumps or road bumps,I know Portland roads suck but I been on htechs with same rim dimensions and never rubbed even once, you sure you havethe correct offset on the rims cause there is no way to rub really.

not speed bumps,, just dips in the road or pot holes that i dont see right away.. at slow speeds i have no issues.. its usually highway driving or back road driving. maybe i will load a few pics this evening to give you an idea where i am at

heres my stance yea and definately try the free route first lol, just use blue painters tape and a small knife or dremel and that should be fine. the are is very very small where you cut

if you want to keep your fender lining, just cut a hole where its rubbing, it will eliminate the rub It should stop rubbing. A 1.7 drop is pretty minimal, so you should be fine after you cut the fender lining, You could also try heating it up, eventually the rubbing will create its own hole through the plastic lining
