I'm trying to get some new tires...i used to have 225/40/18...now I have 215/35/18...but they dont really protect the wheels. I want a little wider so I'm looking into 235/40/18. But with TRD drop, I wonder whether it will work or not? anyone?

I can't imaging the extra 5mm on either side would matter TOO much with the TRD springs. IMO, you should be OK.

 

yo ack154, i agree with you, just wanted to get some more opinions. seems quite some people have the same worry as me, so I hope this thread helps them a lil. i'll do 235 to see whatsup...few discounttire guys agreed with me too.

 

it should work. but 235 is the most widest tire i would put on a 7.5" rim.

 

same here, 235 is the widest yet suitable for 7.5" wide wheels. I have 215, had 225, now i wanna go 235. But according to 1010tires.com tire calculator, 235/40/18 is over 3% difference with the stock tires, brake failure will occur.

 

what does everyone else think about running 235/40/18 or even 245/40/18?

 

i would go with the 225's, but if you have stock rims with the 7.5 you should be ok.. if not add a 5mm spacers... later..

 

i tried 235/40 today at discount tires...NO..its a no-go!
I thought its gonna be ok, but obviously its not!
I have my tC with TRD drop, its not do-able. Without the drop might be ok.

 

what was wrong with the setup? i was thinking either 235/40, 235/35, or 235/40, maybe even 245/35. btw, im dropped on Tein Stech's
