What Tire Size Do You Recommend for tC on 18x8.5 35mm Offset
What Tire Size Do You Recommend for a tC on 18x8.5 Rims +35mm offset
I have TRD Springs\Struts (lowered about 1.25")
I couldn't find a definite answer from searching so I was hoping of finding more current information.
I want to get the Perelli PZero Nero M&S
I was going to get 225-40-18 sized tires.
However, I spoke with the dealer at Wheels Direct Online and he recommended that i go 235-40-18 for the tC because it might offer more protection around the lip.
Is anyone running a similar setup, and would I experience any rubbing if I went with the slightly larger 235-40-18?
What tire size would you recommend for a balanced smooth performance ride?

When changing total diameter of wheel/tire from stock (24.6") make sure you visit:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
to calculate the differences and also what the experienced Speedo change will be. Whenever you change revs/mile on your wheel/tire your speedo will be off by a percentage.

I'm riding 215/35/18. If you want more sidewall, I'd go with 225/35/18 or 215/40/18; I've heard that people have problems with 225/40/18 and bigger. Just remember, it's easier to ride smaller tires than it is to ride tires that are too big for your wheel well. Also, the closer you are to the stock wheel diameter, the more accurate your speedometer and odometer will be.

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate the feedback greatly.
Has anyone else heard of problems with the 225/40-18? I wonder why the TRD Scion tC wheels are that size.
Maybe it's the offset on them that keep them from rubbing.
So, would you say that 235/40-18 would "rub" on 18x8.5 (35 offset) rims with 1.25" lowered TRD springs?
