had to get me an engine cover too, couldn't stand seeing the coils. painted to match.

Both look decent, but I would've expected Toyota to have included a rebaged one for the tC.

Cover is just another piece to take off. Why not go through the process of pollishing your valve cover. At least that way it will look like you put effort into what you own. Not just cover it up with plastic.

Mine was completely pitted by whatever the dealer used to clean the engine. Replacing the value cover would have been too costly.

You don't have to replace it. Just take it off and go thorough the process of polishing it.

This video shows how lengthy of a process it is if you do it thoroughly....

This thread is on the 2nd gen xB showing you the results of stock to polished....https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sci...polish-200625/

You can even take it to a shop and have them powder coat it to whatever color you want without having to sand it down. It will look rough with the coating over it unless you sand it down first giving it the smooth look.

IMO I think this is far more impressive than using plastic covers cause then you can also change the hose colors and other stuff in the engine bay where it all shows your individuality instead of it all being hidden under plastic.

does it snap into place or are any modifications needed??

Xversa 05-26-2015 04:52 AM

No mods needed. Its off the same Toyota engine. Just clean it up, and snap it on.

stayintrucha 06-03-2015 12:30 AM

hampton1100 06-03-2015 03:17 AM

The 2011+ tC does not come with an engine cover. They are just showing ones they've bought.

Did you just put a Scion badge on yourself? If so that looks clean, I'd much rather have a Scion badge over Toyota just to keep badges matching (i know thats picky lol)

Xversa 06-18-2015 04:05 PM

Found the Scion emblem on ebay, it's the same one as on your steering wheel. Had to grind down the Toyota "T" to get good adhesion with 3M tape.
Also header cover has been painted black since this picture was taken.
Guess I'm a little anal also.

I'd say it is the ugly bits

The polished or painted valve covers just look so much nicer IMO.

Ok, finally after long search (in Canada is not easy to find a Camry engine covers, at least where I live), found my cover in eBay $50 + $40 shipping & import taxes (again , I'm in Canada). I just try to gave some "touch" with the red color on the letters & "Toyota" emblem. Excuse the pictures quality, but was taken with my crappy phone...

A1_Fares 07-09-2015 09:00 AM

So I got one of the smaller ones from ebay, painted it white and stuck it on, but one problem.

I want to put in a strut brace and I don't know if I'll have the clearance. There's AEM, TRD, Tanabe, and DC but they all look like they want to sit really close to the motor..

Does anyone know if it'll clear?
