black coat thing on the windshield frame

Default black coat thing on the windshield frame

Have anyone removed this black coat thing (see the pic below) on the windshield frame? I know it has the original paint under the coat. I want to know how to remove it without damaging the paint underneath. Thanks

Use a heat gun and slowly peel form one of the corners. Just take your time and keep the vinyl warm with the heat gun. A hair dryer might work too

I am not a big fan of it off...I just do not like the gap between the bottom of the a pillar and the front of the car.
