Okay I'll give the one coat method a try when i go to do it lol and as for a more flexible tape...you could try electrical tape. I've seen on some youtube videos where they've used it and it seems to do well

Disater06

I see you have an AEM CAI..i've been looking at getting an intake and have narrowed it down to 3. Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake, Ijen Short Ram Intake, and Descendant Cold Air Intake...they all are about the same price from Mend Motorsports.

The questions i have are: Which one is the better buy? Which one will be the easiest to install...dealing with placement, compatibility with existing engine components, etc.??

This isn't directed straight at Disaster06...anybody and everybody chime in lol

If you do it, tape it off, shoot one real thick coat working toward the tape from the center first, then peel the tape quick, otherwise the plastidip will stick to the tape and you will have to do it over.
So this is painted, not vinyl?

super easy, it peels of in large pieces. Youtube Plastidip wheels. People do it on their entire wheel and then peel it off if they don't like it.

I have had the Injen Short Ram intake as well, but it was too warm in California so I went with a Cold Air from AEM. I think that it has its advantages (especially since it rarely rains here, and even when it does, the tC2 has enough plastic covering up the bottom of the car that you would literally have to submerge it about a foot and a half or really be driving through puddles a ton to get any water near the filter to hydrolock it.

I think any of them would be easy, I like the AEM because it added a nice sound, as well as a little boost of power in the higher RPM's. I also get about 32 MPG on the freeway still. Install should take you about an hour to 2 hours depending on your mechanical knowledge, they are all pretty easy.

thats my 2 cents, good luck!

Check that site out, I think they have instructional videos.
