Default DIY: Stock Short Antenna

I saw this on another Scion forum (Scion Club tC) and did it on my OEM antenna because I wanted it to look like stock (skinny and flexible), but shorter!! I still have my S2000 antenna, just wanted to try something different. The reception is not effected, however I don't drive around the city with tall buildings (90% suburb driving)

What you need:
* pliers
* stock antenna
* pan

1. Boil water and dip the tip of stock antenna for several seconds.

2. Remove the antenna from the boiling water and remove the tip with pliers.

3. cut the antenna in half (or desired lenght) and place the tip back on and push down. Next, place the antenna tip back in the hot simmering water for several seconds and remove. Let cool for few mins. And that's it, all done and put back on the car.

Cool!

Nice way of saving the money folks would spend on quality OEM antennas from other makes/models.

Isn't the average stubby antenna only about $20 or so?

Yeah just about $20-$30 shipped. I was pointing out the short and skinny look v. stubby look. And it is flexible! Plus it's an easy mod and doesn't cost anything.

Free is cool, but sadly I must say that I paid $35 for mine. It's only about 2-3 inches tall. I took it off of my mk5 Gti before I traded it in. Lol

Yes. I guess if you're really broke from spending 250+ a month for your car you can do this
