I want to go to a police station here in NH and talk to somebody there as to what's legal and what's not. I found a couple of laws and they say you cant use red or blue light especially flashing but I dont see why i cant have it on in steady blue when the car is not in motion/key is not in the ignition.

In the landmark case of Miranda v. Arizona 384 U.S. 436 (1966), the U.S. Supreme Court gave the police permission to lie to the public…not a good source. I know that 1966 is a bit before your time, but this is the same case that got you your “Miranda Rights” from…good reading though.

If you're not on a public road (or right next to one), you can have the blue lights and cops won't generally bother you. However... Just having blue lights installed on your car can get you arrested in some places for impersonating a policeman. Too many weirdos putting that stuff on their cars, pulling people over and assaulting people for cops to mess around.

Heck, I've known a few cops (one in NY and one in WV) who told me they have stopped people with red/blue LED dome lights in their car 'just because'.

General rule of thumb I go by on a car, don't draw attention to yourself.

These were taken 2 years ago and I have sine added more lights since then. About 4 more red and blues and 8 amber(directional bar) on the sun roof alone. 6 white strobe lights in head/rear lights

as far as the lights go, they have been used at construction sites, my bros a sheriff and used my car a few times when i was working on his truck installing his lights.

each state is different and here in tx, we cannot have flashing, strobe, or alternating red, white, blue lights on a car. I have gotten pulled over for my blue led daytime running lights but i got the ticket dismissed and still running them everyday.

"Section 266:78-b

266:78-b Blue Lights Restricted to Law Enforcement. –
I. No person other than a sworn law enforcement officer with power of arrest shall operate a vehicle equipped with blue colored lights, except in the case of a service technician driving the vehicle in connection with servicing or maintaining the vehicle.
II. Blue lights are authorized for vehicles owned or leased by state, county, municipal, or federal law enforcement agencies, fire marshal vehicles, and vehicles privately owned or leased by sworn law enforcement officers when authorized by their department heads. When blue colored lights are installed on a private vehicle owned by or leased to a law enforcement officer, such lights shall be covered when the vehicle is being driven by someone other than a law enforcement officer."

" 266:78-q Penalties. – Any person convicted of a violation of this subdivision shall, notwithstanding the provisions of title LXII, be guilty of a violation and fined not less than $250 nor more than $500 plus penalty assessment for a first offense and not less than $500 nor more than $1,000 plus penalty assessment for a second offense......"

Just having them on your vehicle is a no-no in NH. Never mind having them illuminated.

Basically all of 266:88 talks about lighting. Accepted colors and allowed flashers.
