Default Need help with my fog lights

This not a thread it's more of a question. I have looked and read thru the forums but I can't seen to find an answer, I want to swap out my oem fog lights with some hids or halogen but I don't know if I can just swap the bulb out or I need to buy a kit. So if someone can tell me what I need I would appreciate it.. Soon as I get a answer I'll close this thread .. Thanks

I have a 2005 scion tc so I hope my answer helps. If you have OEM fogs, you already have a power cable that will be used to plug into the balasts. The HID kit (which you will need) will come with the adaptor you will need to hook up your OEM connector to your balast then the balast will connect to the new HID bulb.

So when you order the kit order the color (lumen of choice) aka 3000K if you want yellow and specify you need a H3, or 9006 or whatever kit. Hope this make sense...Im sure someone with a 2011 TC will chime in...

If you order from HIDextra they will give you the universal balast with the HID bulbs and it will come with the adaptor, you will plug in your OEM plug to one side, then the other side to the Balast then the balast to the bulb and the bulb to the car...

i'll post pics of my HID fogs for you

with my maxima I just changed the bulbs to brighter halogen bulbs and they actually melted the clip...turns out I bought 80 watts instead of the OEM 55w (for the maxima that is)...in my opinion is better to get a full HID kit, you can buy them for 60 shipped from HIDextra or MODexpress...

If you just buy halogen bulbs (H11 for your fogs), you cant use a balast with them...you will just plug them to the stock connector and thats it...just remember if the bulbs are to "hot" use to much watts it can burn/melt your connectors...if your going to do that, buy heavy duty harnesses...some bulbs out there are nice and bright but I dont think anything beats HID kits...go with an HID kit, try it out and if you dont like it just re-sell it here...Good luck!

@Cisco_TeamShotgun

Where I am (Canada), we're not allowed with more than 4 lights on the front at one time. So when we have our fog lights hooked up, they will turn off when we put out high-beams on; since that would be 6 lights if they stayed on. I'm a bit jealous though. I love lots of light and your setup is pretty sweet =)

Don't mean to high jack this tread lol but I have a question also ... I have OEM factory installed fog lights & I am going to install a halo kit on my head lights pretty soon & I found some halo fog lights on eBay that are vented (would be great for my future turbo) ... So my question is is it possible or has someone tried installing the halo fogs as a replacement for there OEM ?
