What is your average mpg?

I did some experimentation this weekend - not sure how optimistic the readout is, but 65-70-75 gave results of around 30-33-36 on flat stretches of I-10 in Louisiana and Mississippi (a.k.a. Boring road at sea-level)
I would expect freer flowing breathing to harm fuel economy. If the engine can get more air, it will add more fuel to the mix to keep the ratios correct, right? Or you'll be running very hot and lean.

I am averaging about 26 combination freeway and city with my 6 speed manual transmission. I once clocked over 40 mpg freeway only - driving like there was an egg between my foot and the accelerator pedal. That was no fun, but the mileage rocked. EPA tests say the car will get about 26 combined, and I have found this to be pretty accurate.

38?... how is that possible? I drove 2 days by BARELY touching the gas, and on the highway only, I was getting like 27-28 I'm starting to think people lie about their MPG because I have 4 friends who own tc's we all avrg 22-25mpg, So unless you put in some prius engine in there I doubt you were getting 38... and dosent an intake help with mpg?

I average about 22-24.5 MPG city driving but I do about 30.0 flat on the highway, have in mind I have a 35-45lb speaker riding in the back However, I have an automatic so it comes with the Eco Light. A while back I did the "Eco Challenge." Driving with the Eco light on as much as possible. Slow acceleration and slow deceleration just to see if the light actually did work. Yes, people were probably ____ed that a "sports car" is barely taking off but by the time my tank was empty, I was averaging 27.2 city!

38 is certainly possible if the majority of his highway driving occurs at around 45-50mph and he has an automatic. The automatic's 6th gear is quite a bit taller than the manual's 6th gear, so higher efficiency is to be expected while in that gear.
I know this because I've owned by the automatic and manual versions of the tC2, so I've seen this for myself, plus, it comports nicely with theory.

The right way to do it it when you fill up your gas tank. Rest you trip meter and then on your next fill up (make sure you fill up your tank all the way full) then divide miles from trip to gallons filled. If they do that then what ever the mpg is then it should be correct.

If they are calculating the mpg based on the computer then it can be off because at time I can get that computer to say 40 mpg (when I'm going down hill or just a slight slope down where I don't have to step on gas) that how you get the computer counter to count higher than actual mpg).

I'm always at about 310 miles when the empty light comes on. If I'm not mistaken, at that point I still have roughly 2.5 gallons left in the 14 gallon tank. I always fill up as soon as the light turns on though, and I fill up with just a bit over 11 gallons. Averaging 28mpg for my daily commute of 40 miles in L.A traffic isn't bad at all. I'm a happy camper...

i drive only on local streets to and from work, 5 days a week which is around 8-10 miles 1 way and my gauge does say i'm around 20 mpg. being a very heavy person plus stop and go traffic lights, i am able to fill up every 1.5-2 weeks.

5 days a week to work and back 70 mile round trip about 30 miles on the highway with cruise set at 75mph (auto) and 5 miles city one way. I typically set the gauge on Monday and by Friday I'm usually sitting around 27.6 to 28.9 depending on how I drive.
Long highway haul 95 north I got an average of 32.8. I'm not over 3,000 rpm very often or overly aggressive on the gas... eco light stays on most the time using cruise control...
