50% throw reduction is possible right now
Hi folks,
If you couple the TWM short-shifter with the TRD short shifter, one could in theory achieve an approximate throw reduction of 50% (.7 x .7). This is possible because each works at the opposite end of the transmission/shifter linkage. With the TWM short shifter doing its job at the shifter, and the TRD hardware doing its job at the transmission cable ends, this should be do-able. Whether or not it's advisable is another issue, though the only effect I see as likely is that the throw is reduced 50%, and some may not like such a short throw. Some people, however, like it as short as possible.
Has anyone tried this yet? I must admit to being tempted. I already have the TWM short shifter installed and like it, so installing the TRD would be a piece of cake as it's a much less involved process, not to mention it's only half as costly. If I end up not liking it, I'm sure I could find a buyer for the TRD short shifter in the scionlife classifieds. But I'd probably end up keeping it installed. ;)

I think I asked twm if it was possible and thought they said one or the other, but its been a while.
Wouldn't that make the cable have too much slack?
If you come closer to the transmission on one side, and closer to the shifter on the other, and the cable stays the same length...just doesn't seen like it would work.
