Default Cannot Get Oil Filter Cover Off

Hey Guys,
I am at a loss, I bought my 2011 tC about 3 months ago from a dealership. I went to change my oil today for the first time & I cannot get the filter cover off, I've tried using the 64mm socket and the tool broke the plastic wings on the cover. I've tried channel locks to no avail, the filter cover is all messed up so I will be replacing it, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thanks

The Normal Procedure is to Use A 3/8 Socket Wrench with a Extension.
You put the Extension in the square hole in the metal center cap of the
oil filter and loosen it counter-clockwise. Take the cover off with the filter.

If that fails, most Pros use a Oil Filter Wrench that clamps around the
entire Cover to twist it off. Found at most auto parts stores.

At the shop I work at we've tried several tools none have worked as well as the AST toy640, but more than likely the flutes are rounded off from the pliers. If you have a replacement filter cap in hand. Your best bet would be to try using a oil filter wrench like OEMTOOLS™ 25128 Cam Action Oil Filter Wrench and if that doesn't work use a hammer and chisel to try to rotate it counter-clockwise.
