yea. i think smog test is in 3 years for me, but i think at annual inspections they do a visual check for a cat

 

i don't know if i'm right, but are your revs a little higher at various speeds? I feel like I'm shifting at lower speeds than I used to.. shouldn't it be the other way around with the 'addition of power' or are we losing torque because of losing backpressure?

 

Someone posted a dyno on here somewhere. Basically, with the new exhaust, you actually lose power until you hit about 3K rpms because of the lack of back pressure. At 3K you are about the same and get the gains after that.

 

ah i see.. oh well guess I lose out a bit of gas mileage on everyday driving then. still worth it cuz it sounds so nice. maybe i'll practice eco-driving skills more haha

Its probably because i dont drive very eco-friendly :D...

They do sound sweet, the torque loss was the big turn off for me. Not giving up an ounce of torque if I can help it.

 

The only thing holding me back is the fear that it isn't aggressive enough.

My last tC was pretty loud, and I loved that. This, being a catback makes me assume that its pretty quiet, but from that video it seems pretty nasty

Have they done any decibel testing?

I just want something with a great tone but also sound volume

 

It's pretty loud...girlfriend complains because she can hear me coming from down the block. I'm now just waiting for a cop to pull me over for it being too loud. I'll post that ticket up once it happens :-P.

 

it's not that loud.. i heard a stock tC recently, and was kinda surprised it was fairly loud. i don't think the descendant is anywhere near loud enough to get pulled over. i live near DC so i drive by cops all the time. maybe see 5 or so a day.

 

Its loud, not that loud. I find it is only loud about 3,500-4,000 RPM. If your beating on it, people will hear you!

 

the backfire is starting to bother me a little bit, will it cause any damage to the car? i read that it's caused by a/f ratio? Is there a method to get rid of it or some other mod that can remedy it? I figured it might go away after the ECU 'learned' the new exhaust. I have yet to try resetting the ECU.

 

I had to YouTube backfire to kinda get an idea of what you were talking about. Mine does it too, but only if the engine/exhaust is warmed up and I step on it hard
