Lightweight Crank Pulleys -- NST, Others
So after glaring over some posts, both by users and the manufacturer, I am interested in a lightweight pulley from NonStopTuning.
I would like to hear from buyers of these pulleys if they have found and negative impacts of the pulleys, or what one shouldn't do after installing a pulley.
The reason I'm curious is because I have heard a lot of 'harmonic balancing' talk, etcetera, and yeah, it's like the Red Scare. I don't want to shorten the life of my car too much.
If you have educated opinions, experience, or knowledge in dealing with pulleys on Scion TC2s, please let me know.
Also, is it feel-able power gain that you get through the pulleys? And what if I'm a spirited driver? And by spirited, I mean lining up with Si's weekly, so I really push my car to its limits to stay ahead in third, always passes about then though, usually. I don't launch above 2.5k, usually 1700, so nothing idiotic. But I mean if I'm hitting my limiter several times a day in gears 1-4, will this and the pulley have vast negative impact on my car?
Please do not chastise me for street racing. I do it as safe as possible and in remote areas where civilians are not present. It's fun for me and there are zero tracks in my area. If there were, I would go for sure, but it's just not possible.
After reading, I have seen a ton of cars that have had trouble, and some of them do have the pulley.

No one has anything to say about these? Other than fanboys on the comprehensive page.
I want someone who is knowledgeable, unbiased, and level-headed to post about these crank pulleys. Not someone who still believes communism is standing strong in the states, or someone who can't look past what they're told by salesmen. Thanks.

I usually connect from hotspot shield anyways. But seriously, I'm looking for legit information on this.
I don't know of any other companies making a pulley for our car. I think I mentioned in another post that if installed correctly (torqued to correct specification, make sure to follow all instructions, etc) there should be no issues. I think any issues that have shown up are from incorrect installation or something else not having to do with the pulley.
As far as the pulley throwing off the balance, I think that is something from days gone by as cars no longer are balanced externally, its all internal, since the early to mid 90s.
I think the only thing you have to worry about is a back order as I have experienced. Make sure to order when NST says they have them in stock and you should be fine. That's all I'm waiting for.
Sounds like anyone who has one installed experiences more power throughout the power band, but note it isn't adding horsepower, its just freeing up existing horsepower that due to the stock pulley being heavier, it loses some power to the wheels. I say buy it when it's available. Everyone is happy with theirs

If NST doesn't have them, buy the Agency Power one.

really?
One lightweight pulley is going to give you the same results as another. Since they are both made of the same alluminium alloy and they both have the same diameter (stock), any gains between the two are going to be identical.
With that being said, look at the dyno from the NST page and you'll know exactly what to expect from the Agency Power pulley.

From the pic off meng, agency power looks like its lighter than nst because it looks like there is less aluminum used in the construction of the pulley. I agree with Steve in that they will be petty much the same, but the only way to tell is to show actual dyno results. Either way I am very happy with nst and would urge anyone that wants a pulley to wait for the nst. You can't rush a great product

Agreed, another satisfied NST customer here. Can't say I'm crazy impressed with any "gains" from it, but it has been a solid piece and has caused my car zero issues thus far. I've had it installed for 13 months without issue.

I had one on my tC back when it was N/A. There really isn't a noticible difference. Stock pulley isn't that much heavier.
The lesson I have learned from doing everything to a car is basically just get forced induction. everything else is just sound and fury and in some cases looks. Just save your money and either do a turbo kit, or buy a faster car.
