Default Maintenance light question

Whenever I turn my ‘12 tC engine on, the maintenance light flashes on and off for ~5 seconds but goes away after. I’ve scanned the car with an OBD2 scanner and it’s giving me no codes. Any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks.

It's just a light to get you to go into the dealership so they can tell you you missed a service and charge you out the ___ for a glorified oil change. It's not a check engine light, it's a pre-programmed light to get you into the dealership to do 'scheduled' maintenance.

You can shut it off easily. Go to trip odometer A and then hold the trip odometer button down while turning the key into the on position (don't start the vehicle), you will see some dashes and then they will count down and then disappear. Once they're cleared release the button and the light should turn off.

Thank you so much Andrew! Another question I have [sorry], my airbag light stays on and I've scanned the car for codes but it's giving me none. Do you know any solutions to this as well?

No problem. If you have your service manual just browse thru it and see if there is anything big that you need to do. Most of the intervals (every 5-10k) ask you to change the oil and check body hardware that might have rattled itself loose based on driving conditions, but there are big services such as other fluid changes and spark plugs, etc to be aware of.

The airbag light is generally a light that you do actually need to take your car into the dealership for. Aside from maybe a few collision shops, the airbag light is something only the dealer can usually diagnose. A normal code reader won't be able to diagnose why you have an airbag light.
