I was just wondering what you guys think the pros and cons are to adding washers in between the flange where the exhaust pipe meets the muffler. Some people say it will decrease performance while others say the opposite. I only did it as a cheap way to make my car louder.

I don't think this will affect performance on a 4 Cylinder motor in the least bit. As long as the car does not sound like it has an exhaust leak..I say go for it.

I wouldn't do this at my age though, maybe in first year of college. An affordable, easy to install aftermarket muffler would be the way to go.
