Default new muffler

I have a 2013 tC. So far I've put s tecs on it. Plasti dipped the wheels put a flowmaster super 40 series on it and took off a resonator. The flows by itself sounded good but wasn't quite loud enough for my liking. When I took off the resonator it made it louder and it sounds good... until I get higher rpms and then it starts to sound like a ____ed off weedeater.I dont have enough money to spend on a new system. I didn't know if anyone knew of a universal muffler out there that is loud, deep, and smooth. Any suggestions?

This is what I have on my '12 tC.

Flowmaster Force II + Injen Short Ram Intake =

Loud and deep. Not too aggresive unless you floor it.

make a custom exhaust, i figure we have half the cylinders of a v8 and it sounds good with flowmaster.

make a flowmaster exhaust @ half the size of it lol. feasible? no. but wouldnt it give the same effect? half the back pressure from our car with smaller exhaust, same design= same desired sound? idk.

put a 10" aftermarket resonator. the ones every single muff shop has will do, and they are dirt cheap. these little bad boys lower the over all volume and reduces rasp (which i imagine your ehaust has since it sounds bad), BUT makes it sound VERY good. in fact.. they sound GREAT.. you should have NO complaints with your exhaust tone throughout the rpm band.

on a side note, my fully NA built civic has a super 40 on it and two resonators (too damn loud with just one) and at idle lopes just like a v8.. absolutely love the super 40 on my civic!

maybe i wasn't exactly clear about the precise name of the resonator.., but they have them, at every muffler shop. it's just a small resonator, about 10 inches in length. i guess you could call them high flow resonators too.. the ones the muffler shop has are no name brands, but work great and are like 20 bucks... i believe all the reputable companies like magnaflow make high flow resonators, but they are like 60+ bucks, not worth it in my opinion since the no name brands work so good!

if you are having trouble explaining over the phone, head over to the nearest muffler shop and ask about it, 99% of the time, they will have it in stock..

that's what you are looking for, but I recommend getting the no name brand from a muff shop.

awesome, they hooked it up! i removed my second cat and stock resonator and replaced them with one of these smaller resonators, but i still have the stock muffler on.. it sounds great, i'm thinking about getting a flowmaster super 40 instead, but i'm still not convinced it's the best way to go for my tc..

enjoy!

I love it! Once my warranty runs out I'm thinking of taking my cat off. But the super 40 for me was just a fast cheap way to make it louder

haha, well you can't beat a REAL muffler, non of that glass packed stuff.. i just wish they looked better. i mean, it was great for my civic because that's function over form for me, but i want some more form for my tc.. i mean, my tc isn't an evo killer, it just looks good going to work/store/shows.. i have my civic to go evo and subie hunting..

maybe i'll just chrome plate a super 40 down the line and have some custom work done.. depending on the price of doing this though, i may just get a greddy evo exhaust and call it a day.. i've dug the evo series mufflers from greddy since they first came out.. ultimately wanted one for my civic, but after they stole my first one, which had a greddy sp2 fully polished among other sexy looking form mods, i decided to keep my built civic looking good with the bare minimums.. i even sprayed my muffler flat black so that it looks like just another off brand muffler..

Ahhh I see. I'm lookin at exhaust systems or even a universal muffler and have someone I know help me make a custom cat back... but thing is.... I don't know what would get me a louder than hell muffler That would still be smooth and deep because I can't Stand when a car sounds like a ____ed off weedeater

unfortunately, 4 cylinder engines just don't have a great exhaust tone overall because, well, our engines just don't push enough air.. if you want a loud and good sounding exhaust out of our engines, you have two choices.. fully building your motor or slapping a fat turbo on it.. i went the fully built motor on my civic and i recommend going turbo if you are thinking about daily driving your car..
