NonStopTuning CR-Lite Crank Pulley Group Buy
i cant wait for these i wish i didnt miss out on the group buy!
Guys, I hope you can understand that I HATE HATE HATE the delay A LOT more than and of you do. No one wants to get these pulleys out in your hands, on your cars, and on our website more than I do. We are not delaying just to make you angry or be jerks towards our customers.
Unfortunately the manufacturing process takes a long time with new products and their first (initial) production run. It is more wise to take extra time and do it correctly than to put a potentially flawed product into the customer's hands.
I was hoping that the large discount and extra color options offered with this group buy (along with our excellent reputation here on SL since 2005) would be enough of an incentive to earn your patience.
We are in the final phase of production now, the anodizing process. We expect to have pulleys in the mail within the next 10-15 days.
As always, I am available to take your phone calls Monday through Friday and would be happy to chat with any of you in person. I really do not see a need for anyone to post derogatory or insulting comments towards anyone else here.
Thanks again, good luck and have fun with all your projects.

Were all impatient because we know this is going to be the biggest single part power addiction when it comes out! Excitment is taking over all of us who are purchasing this. And i will be calling nat tomorow to talk with you guys on how i can preorder one from you now cuz im not on the group buy and my money is burning a whole in my pocket for this and the password jdm exhaust!
I completley agree, I've had $150 sitting in an envelope with the word "Pulleys" on it since i joined ScionLIfe 2 months ago
I can't wait to get these once they come out! Just wish I got in on the group buy, because now I have to figure out how to get them in gold
But I completley understand both sides here. I'm sure that it's extremely difficult to pinpoint a date on when production of these pulleys will be completed, especially because they are the first ones out so they have to be designed, and i'm sure a few speed bumps will have to be smoothed out. I also see how people can be frustrated in waiting, since the date has been moved so much and most of them have already paid.
For everyone who got in on this group buy, I wish I was you.

Bottom line is that ppl are understanding if you keep them in the loop. Just saying that there will be a delay is not good enough. You need to explain why in the way so ppl can connect/understand the issue.
2nd Bottom line: Miscommunication creates conflict.
Well its basic psychology, when you promise something to a person it creates a "psychological contract". When such contract is broken different ppl respond differently i.e. lose respect or trust. Some could be more immune to it and not mind the "contract violation".

also while the discount, special color, and reputation is very appealing...its just the thought of us paying over $100 on an item we are yet to see. its one thing to wait patiently on something free (or super cheap)...but to have paid good money for (right now) nothing, really sends off bad feelings
Well said, Scion202. It's all about communication. Someone runs a red light and almost hits you. You're angry. Find out it's because their rushing to the hospital to say goodbye to a dying relative, you aren't mad anymore.
If NST gives some sort of explanation, the majority of people will be willing to give a little grace.
Some very plausible examples:
- Discovered a design or production flaw
- Had unexpected personnel changes
- A much more lucrative job came in and took precedence
- Mike promised his daughter a pony for Christmas not realizing how much they are and couldn't afford to buy the raw material for a while.
It's all perspective.

I think NST's last post was spot on, just a bit late. BUT this project has been through 3 big holidays, so cut them some slack. They have lives too. I'd much rather wait an extra month for a solid quality product vs. a rushed pos. It would really suck to install the pulley and have it break a week later and strand you on the side of the road.
It's also important to conduct extensive testing prior to distribution. For example, to be sure that there's no appreciable increase in wear and tear, they might require that a test vehicle with the pulley installed put on 5,000 miles, at which point they would then partially disassemble the engine and inspect for worn components, and then compare that to a test vehicle that didn't have their pulley installed.
If they decided that Toyota's decision to use a much heavier crankshaft pulley in the tC2 merited further investigation, then I can see it taking some time. Is that what's going on? I have no idea.

Thank you for the comments, the concerns, and the feedback ladies and gents.
Just to clarify and provide a bit more feedback, there is no reason to believe that this pulley will not work very well on this engine. Everything that we have seen thus far has been positive.
The issue that we have faced is on the production side of things, compacted by the fact that we started working on this project in the second half of 2011. The holiday season (SEMA at the end of Oct, Thanksgiving in Nov, Hanukkah & Christmas & New Years in Dec) typically puts a huge damper on our industry... even more so on the manufacturing side of things.
In addition, we want to take a little extra time to test our machinery and pulleys for extra safety and security before boxing these babies up and sending them to you. The aluminum is tested once it comes in, pulleys are tested after the machining process, and tested again after being anodized. This commitment to quality is one of the many things that set NST pulleys apart from the competition.
As I stated in my previous post, we are in the anodizing phase now, and if all goes well we expect to have packages for you within the next 10-15 days. Keep your fingers crossed.
Thanks again, best of luck to you with all your projects!
