Default Questions about installing a pulley

So a friend of mine bought a pulley for his 2011 to, which is the same car as mine. He is being nice enough and selling it to me for 150$ and installing it on my car, he has installed every other thing on my car as well so I trust him.

1.I don't have any engine mods at all. Completely stock, is this a good first step? A pulley? Or should I do an intake first.

2.are there any legal terms I need to know about in California that has something to do with installing pulleys? I don't want to blow my engine then get kicked outta the Toyota dealership lol.

I am guessing you are talking about a lightweight pulley. I don't think this would cause any problems whether you install it first or you install CAI first. It only frees up power to your motor because it don't have to work as hard to spin it. As far as legality in California, I'm not from there, but I don't see why this would cause a problem. From my understanding, Cali is big on emissions, something a pulley has absolutely nothing to do with. All I can say for this is look it up on google or you could probably even find a website for Cali that states what you can/cannot do. Another thing you can do since you are worried about blowing your motor, contact the dealership directly and ask them if you were to install it, if it would void any warranty and they might even be able to tell you legal terms, or even contact any State certified inspection station.

No idea about california laws.
Changing the pulley first, second, etc. doesnt matter much on what order. It is additive power, so any order you would like would be fine.

Warranty info is as follow: as long as the part is not the direct cause for a failure, you will not void the warranty. If the part is the fault, then it wont be covered. So blowing the motor because of poor install, you will not be covered. A window regulator going bad will still be covered.

Google "the Magnason-Moss act" for more information on how aftermarket parts affect warranties and what a manufacturer legally can and can not do.
