Default 2014 Scion tC - Turn off Seat belt Chime??

Hey all, I am kind of surprised that I haven't seen anything posted about this in awhile.

I have a 2014 tC that I purchased late last year. Since then I have been trying to figure out how the hell to turn off the seatbelt warning buzzer. Once I throw the car into gear and get going about 5mph, the buzzer kicks on
and irritates the heck out of me for 30 or so seconds. This is a real nuisance considering that I use the car in the city and will sometimes only need to drive a few blocks.

The manual says that the dealer has some special computer equipment that is capable of turning it off, so I have visited a couple asking them to turn it off
and have mostly been told NO because "it is illegal in my state"(Maryland). This sounds like a load of BS to me but I have really no way of verifying.

I always wear my seat belt - seriously, but it is impractical sometimes when I am only driving a couple blocks in a closed lot or have heavy boxes in my passenger seat. Has anyone had any success turning the damn thing off?
Either by going to a dealer or wiring it up? I'm getting kind of desperate here. I wouldn't be going through all this trouble unless it was causing a substantial amount of annoyance which it is.

Sit ontop of the seatbelt while its clipped? Or just get what clicks in and just cut it or something and leave it there

Have you seen or tried this? I am not sure if it will work on a tC2, but it might be worth a shot.

Here's also a written version over on the DIY/Tech page.

I don't get it, this post was made before by Stillcole, back in Sep 2014. It was exactly the same post. Please see: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229032&goto=newpost

So, looks like somebody likes to play games on this forum? hope no....

Yeah sorry about that. I posted twice because I still haven't found a solution to this yet.

As someone suggested above, I might just buy one of those inserts that stays in there, but also lets you clip the seat belt into it.
I would rather not though because there is no data to suggest that this does not compromise the safety of the belt.

The whole, put you key in and turn the steering wheel trick didn't work. Apparently that is only effective for older model tCs.

Dealer will turn it off. Bring your manual for proof. I had them change a few things. Took 5 mins.

If you don't feel comfortable asking. Lie and say you are a rural newspaper carrier. Or you live in the country and your mailbox is far from the house.

It's in the manual. You have the right.
