Default Air Bag Light question (Passenger)

You guys know the Passenger Air Bag on/off light above the radio unit? When I first got my 2012 it would always be highlighted "Air bag Off" when I drive alone.

When I drive with someone it would be "Air Bag On"

That all sounds normal except now when I drive alone, the Air Bag light would not even be lit. If someone came and sat down on the passenger seat the light would go back to "Air Bag On" So I know the air bag passenger sensor does work.

My question is when you guys drive alone, is the Air Bag Light Highlighted as "Off" or is "Off" not even lit?

Mine lights up when someone sits in the seat, when no one is sitting in the seat nothing is indicated

although last week i had some textbooks on the seat and airbag off was displayed

mine has always been like this when asking the dealership last year they said "thats normal" (then again thats their standard response lol)

my friend has a 2013 tc and his is the same as mine, airbag off not lit up when no one is sitting

Normal operation of Passenger seat air bag indicator light:
No weight in Passenger seat and seat belt not latched: No indicator light
With minimum sensor tolerance weight or more in Passenger seat but seat belt not latched: AIR BAG OFF indicator is lit
With minimum sensor tolerance weight or more in Passenger seat with seat belt latched: AIR BAG ON indicator is lit

damn so if your passenger (is an idiot and) doesn't have their seatbelt on, and an accident happens....the airbag wont save them

..i mean i understand the reasoning, if u have a heavy box of stuff on your seat...u dont need a seatbelt/airbags. Just interesting that if you dont wear your seatbelt...ur basically double screwed in an event of an accident. please practice safe driving!
