Default De-oranged temperature ****

I wish I'd taken a 'before' shot, but you can kind of tell from the blue section that it made a difference. Cellphone camera. I apologize. It doesn't like colors at night apparently....

Basically I dug into the HVAC controls and relieved the bulb behind the temp **** of it's little orange gel filter. Made a big difference (again, picture makes it hard to tell, but trust me). The three shades of orange on the temp **** was killing me. I'm picky about stuff like that.

I doubt anyone will, but if some of you want a DIY I can put one together with pictures on my days off and I can label where all the little tabs are to get the back of the dial out. Might be useful in case anyone manages to somehow burn one of their bulbs out. Never know.

Anyway, this was probably the one thing I've been really eager to do since driving the car home. Now I can start plotting for bigger and better things.

ps. I did the same thing to the bulb under the gear selector but the phone REALLY made that look bad. Again, take my word it makes a notable difference.

Go ahead and throw up a DIY if you get a chance. Everything we do will probably be attempted by somebody else sometime. And it's always nice to have a little bit of a guide when doing something unfamiliar.

Also, I would love to colour the actual dial's from silver to gold. So if getting the ***** out is part of what you are doing, then +1000 awesome to you, good sir.

Hmm...I didn't take the dials themselves apart. Might look into that the next time I have everything disassembled. If I get a chance in the next couple days I'll try to get ahold of a decent camera and put that DIY together. If not, I've got a whole week off coming up soon.

I too would like to know the bulb sizes and to see a DIY. I have some free time, so I'm embarking on the more time consuming mods, like LED swaps.

P.S. I realize it may not be more time consuming for all of you, but the precise mods aren't really my thing.

They're bulbs. Teeny-tiny little ones. Can't remember the number for them.

Sorry I haven't gotten around to putting together that DIY yet. It's been so stupid hot on my days off lately it's hard to bring myself to do anything outside and waking up with the dawn to catch it before it gets hot is simply not an option most of the time, what with working third shift and all.

Also, I need to acquire a camera that will take decent pictures as my phone has already proven it's not quite up to the task, especially when trying to show the dial lit up after the change. (Again, I PROMISE it's loads better...stupid phone....)

i did a LED swap for the HVAC. i couldnt stand those bulbs either. you can use a 5mm quadrate LED with a 440 ohm resistor on the positive lead. the buttons have three 3mm leds behind them so i swapped the amber ones with red. look up the "GAUGES!!!!" thread in tc2 drivetrain (i know, not sure why i put it there) there is more details about the gauge and HVAC swap if ya guys are interested. ill be doing a full LED swap DIY soon
