Default Hardwire Radar Detector?

Hey guys! Im pretty new to this whole DIY thing and since this is my first new car I've been a bit scared to break anything. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has hardwired their radar yet and if so, where did you go for power?

I was trying to head back to the fusebox since I have an escort 8500 with that little remote control portion and I wanted to keep it close to the dash, but I couldnt figure out how to pull off the fuse panel.

I saw some of the articles for the other cars but nothing yet for the tc2.

Like I said, I'm new to this and this is my first new car so I didn't want to break anything. Thanks for the help guys!

I would suggest running a power wire from the battery through the firewall. If you plan on needing more power sources in the future, I'd suggest running a larger wire to let you use a splitter/junction box later on. Running through the firewall is fairly easy and requires only a small knife to make a hole in the rubber on each side. Takes 5-30 minutes, depending on how lucky/skilled you are

I've got a valentine one radar detector hardwired to the back of my cigarette lighter. Took about 30 minutes to do and only required some 12G wire and some T-taps. Just tap into positive and negative and you're done.
