Default Help with 2011 scoin tc Alpine system!

I just purchased a 2011 scion tc with the upgraded alpine sound system. Anytime the bass level is moderately high ( nothing excessive) the driver side door rattles. If i place my hand and apply pressure by the power window buttons the rattling lessons heavily. What is this and how do i fix this? Is this normal? Am i the only one with this problem? i find it a little strange that no one else is noticing this... Thanks

I have the same issue but I also have 2 Memphis 10" subs in the back. I pulled the panel before and didn't see anything loose. It just isn's a tight enough fitament to withold ratlling...

Odd, I dont have any rattle in the door. I get a rattle from the pop up panel built into the sunroof though... running 2 12" subs in the back too...

Yeah, I have rattle in the door...exact same problem with the same Alpine head unit. Not sure if the head unit has anything to do with it, but nonetheless annoying. I am very soon going to be swapping out those 6x9 woofers though. They are gutless in my opinion compared to other OEM systems I've heard.

I think the most noticeable noise i hear is from the license plate rattling. Too bad there aren't four holes to hold the plate down. Fixed that problem with weatherstripping tape...

What kind of soundproofing is in the door? Might just need some decent insulation.

Its actually the window control unit. If you place your hand on the piece that holds the window controls, the sound stops. I even pulled the entire piece out to confirm it. Piece out=no rattle

I went out and tried it and I don't have the issue. I get serious vibration noise with the bass and volume, but not rattling. Only rattle I could find on the car was from the license plate.

Well ya this is clearly a huge problem, im surprised scion isn aware of this and isnt doing recalls or saying anything about it. This is some BS, even a yaris dont rattle when you play music. I just put in new focal speakers and used a sound deadening material in the doors, it helped a little but the rattle was still there. Then after the dealer told me that i had to wait 2 weeks until i cud get my car serviced, being fed up, i carefully glued the window control unit to the door and sealed it permanently. Sounds perfect now... but this is still complete BS if u ask me.

That is BS. I guess I just got lucky because my car doesn't rattle at all.

Default Upgraded Alpine System Scion tC 2011

I don't know if any of you guys have noticed this, but I just got my tC like 3 weeks ago and I noticed that when the Unit is set to ''Car Type: tC'' on the unit's menu, the right subwoofer does not work, but if you set it to ''flat'' it works fine. I already took it to the dealership and they swapped the units and it still has the same problem. Apparently, I'm the only one so far, but they're gonna call an Alpine specialist to come check it out. I'm thinking it's a design/programming/wiring problem because they tried a pioneer unit (the stock unit) and it worked just fine. I want to be able to access all the audio settings (MX,LOUDNESS, SPS, ETC) which otherwise are turned off on ''flat''. Does anyone know or has experienced the same??

I'm not sure man. I have that Alpine head unit and I haven't encountered that problem. I Have mine set to tC and all the speakers appear to be fully functional.

Really?!?! Would you do me a favor and check by balancing/fading to the right front speaker? or the left for that matter? I just called my dealership and asked them if they had found anything out and apparently to them there's no problem and it's ____ing me off....

Sounds really strange. Have the dealer call Alpine and report back to us.

My apologies, man. I just did a thorough inspection of the sound and it doesn't appear that the sub in the right door functions when in tC mode.

It's very unfortunate because the system, IMO, sounds cleaner and fuller as a whole when in tC mode.

When the head unit is placed into flat mode, both subs seem to work and I noticed a bit more punch in the low-end. This is sadly at the cost of the nice mid-range that gives the system its sound when in tC mode.

Please update us on what the dealer is telling you regarding this issue.

I pulled of my door panels tonight and found out 3 things:

- The right 6x9 speaker DOES work in tC mode, just not nearly as powerfully as the left. It punches just as much in other vehicle modes.
- The 3" speakers don't seem to do much in any mode.
- There are 3 screws to remove from each door, not 2. SO much easier to remove the panels at that point.

Still means the head unit has something quirky with the firmware.
