Default tc2 axxess wont work, check engine light, vsc error.

So I installed my pioneer avic x710bt in my scion along with a type r subwoofer. I also installed the Axxess steering control unit (using the directions for the 11 tc).

Now, I have the slip indicator light on and the check engine light. The code is referring to the VSS. Now I cannot use cruise control, and my "eco" light never comes on anymore.

Also my axxess control unit powers on, and shows 6 blinks (saying it read pioneer) and yet my steering controls still wont work.

I dont get all of these errors?! what is causing all of this?

Disconnect the car's battery terminals. Triple check your wiring and then reconnect the battery. Either something is wired wrong, the steering wheel adapter is bad, or it's not for your radio or car. Where did you buy this stuff from? Call there Tech support, which probably won't be open until Tuesday. That blows. Sorry I can't be more help.
I know it is a pain to search thru this site, but the 1st gen guys have tons of info. They have came across just about every problem you can think of and then some.

yeah if i can't figure it out, I'm gonna eventually try to put the factory hu back in and see what happens... The only problem is that its at my friends house 3 hours away. Plus, I would prefer to keep this setup in.

All stereo equipment has been bought new.

I have been searching for a little bit, a couple people said wiring the controller is a bit tricky. Apparently you do have the right controller for our car.
Remove the steering control adapter and just do without that part until you figure it out. At least that way you can still enjoy the new H.U. and sub for your drive.

Amazon Amazon

is this what you have?

if so, even with wrong wiring the only problem would be the radio buttons not working (like volume). i dont think it should effect anything with the indicator lights or even the cruise control.

maybe there is something wrong with other wiring?

or does everything work without the axxess aswc?

I don't think it'a the adapter because I got te check engine light when I first put the head unit in. It wasn't Til like 3 weeks later that I put the axxess on.

I got the slip indicator and no cruise control just by pulling the neg battery cable before. Goes away after a day.

That's what I'm thinking, but what part of the wiring would cause that all to happen ?

did you use a harness to wire in the HU?

assuming something else didn't get nicked during the installation, it might be some crossed wires. can't say for sure which wire(s) to check first...but with a problem like this i would just start over, rethink, and make sure everything is correct on the 2nd go around. read labels and don't always assume everything is color matched

Ok so I pulled it all apart and found that he had the remote amp wire running to the speed sensor wire. I moved that to the correct position and my radio and subs work fine still. I had the battery disconnect so obviously it cleared the code. I haven't however had the time yet to drive around to reset the readiness monitors. Im hoping this fixed it and I didn't fry anything. Apparently the remote amp wire sends 12v and the speed sensor wire handles like 5v (or so I read).

As far as the axxess I have a feeling I have a bad unit basically because when it does auto program it turns the volume up 2 notches, then blinks 6 times showing it reads pioneer but when I go to use the control I get nothing. I tried manually programming it, still no luck. I am going to call them and see if I can get a replacement if not I'm gonna try PAC. Honsestly though it's the least of my worries.. I dont even use the controls, I just don't like that they don't work.

I'll update this once I drive the car for like 30 mins straight to see if the code comes back. Cross your fingers!
Thanks everyone.

Nice good to hear. Luckily these plastic cars are a breeze to take apart and reassemble.

I just installed my Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH with the AXXESS, and its doing the same exact thing to me. After I reset it, It does the blinks, moves the volume a couple points, but the actual points dont work. Its really frustrating....

ive had problems with those axxess pieces being a pain in the butt to program, usually had to do it multiple times, and i stopped using them. i use pac audio swi-ps on my pioneer and it works beautifully. have to wire up a resistor in factory radio plug to wiring, but overall an easy install with no complications and its worked perfect

Anyone think this will work for our tc? An expensive alt that is super plug and play.

The owner said if it didn't he would gladly offer a refund.

70 bucks is not bad if it works, roughly 20 bucks more than prices for other units. I'd give it a shot if I had a need for it.

Exactly what I was thinking. But can anyone watch the videos and confirm the plugs he includes will work. I'm assuming they are standard Toyota plugs.

I like that it also will tie in the stock aux port on the center counsel.
