Default Tint

Hello all,

I have seen some people posting in threads looking for some ideas on tint, I figure I would post what I got to help them along in their decision. If you want more pictures just ask and specify the angle. I may wait for good weather and to clean the car.

Front - none
Driver/passenger windows - 15%
Hatch and 1/4 - 5% (Don't like people seeing in my boot!)

Note that if you live in Ontario Canada this is not legal, 35% is the legal limit.

No Tint (Picture taken from front of car). Was more but files got corrupted.

By m0ej0e at 2011-01-08

With tint (Picture taken from front of car 5%)

By m0ej0e at 2011-01-08

With tint (Picture taken from back to front 5%)

By m0ej0e at 2011-01-08

With tint (Picture take from driver's side 15%)

By m0ej0e at 2011-01-08

Edit for spelling

Go dark and get the reverse camera when (if?) it comes out.

I have 15% all the way around (except windshield) AND 2 reverse lights and I can barely see at night when I'm backing up.

Isn't it illegal to have tint on the windshield other than a visor strip. And legally isn't the visor strip not supposed to excede a certain amount of inches down from the top?

legally, yes for both questions. the 50% is barely noticeable. its less than factory tint. just cuts down on heat and uv rays. generally cops here are cool with tint unless you are driving like an asshat and then they'll just tack it on to whatever else they are writing you a ticket for.

So far I do not know anyone whom has ever had an issue with their tint. My last car was 5% all the way around, never touched the front windscreen. Now that I think about it I never even got pulled over in my old car.

Doubt too many cops would actually pull you over for dark tint (at least in a Scion). But as a couple of you mentioned earlier, they'll sure tack it on if you ____ 'em off.

yeah i've been pulled over many times and have always been very respectful to the officers- yes sir, no sir etc and never been hassled for tint. just the speeding, exhaust or whatever i was originally pulled over for.

i got pull over for speeding twice, but each time they gave me a $50 ticket for tint as warning. I should be thankful that it didn't cost any points.

I don't know if any of you ran into this issue with your tC's or not, but a buddy of mine that worked in an auto body shop for years was tryign to help me tint my car at his place and ran into a bubble issue that he never ran into before. Based on the research I did, it was either air bubbles, which didn't make any sense as he was using a soap and water solution that he's always used, or moisture bubbles that would possible evaporate in the heat. Have any of you had that problem? Do you know why the "bubbles" appeared and wouldn't move with a sqeegee? Any info would be helpful. I appologize if this was answered else where, I couldn't find it....
