Trunk rattle
I've had a little rattle pop up in the trunk area over the last couple of weeks. It's hard to complain about a cheap car that makes it to 47,000 miles with a trunk rattle being the first major annoyance. Still, does anyone have any experience with this? It's a metallic sound, ad seems to be coming from either the rear (latch area) or rear left. It sounds a bit like two metal plates rattling together. I've taken panels off, stuffed terry cloth scraps under various plastic panels, and have had no luck in stifling the noise. An no, before anyone suggests it, the license plate and frame aren't the source - both are secure and have rubber pads to avoid any rattles.

Nobody?
It seems somewhat weather dependent - it's worst after the car has been sitting in the sun, and will sometimes just disappear for a day. |

Ok... So, if anyone else has issues with a persistent metallic rattle from the rear hatch: I located the source as the top of the hatch, specifically where the glass is secured to the hatch frame. I found that squeezing my finger in te little gap would quiet it, so I put several rubber spacers in there. It may not be a solution to every hatch rattle problem, but it seems (knock on wood) to have solved mine. |
YEA I HAVE RATTLE EVERYWHERE! Hatch, passenger door, front dash board...
