Why does 2011 Scion floor carpet suck?!

Why does 2011 Scion floor carpet suck?!
Really. Why does the carpet feel like a mushy blanket laid over the floor ?
It doesn't even fit the contour of the floor and the quality of material allows the mats to slide out of position.
Has someone developed a better quality alternative ? Are subsequent releases 2012, 2013, 2014 better so I can order floor carpet from Scion ? Is a Camry OEM carpet adaptable ?

mines perfectly fine. feels fine especially after a nice vacuum. perfect fit and the bottom grips really stick in so it doesn't move.
with that said, weathertech i believe has all weather mats as an alternative

Huh ? What year are you talking about ? Have you owned other vehicles ?
My 2011 tC has a thin, flimsy, poor fitting OEM floor carpet which feels like some guy bought the cheapest material he could find and hand cut it to fit.
I also own a 2007 Toyota Sienna and a 2005 MINI Cooper S. The Scion has the poorest quality carpet I have ever seen in a new vehicle!

This is true. I've owned several cars and for 2012 Toyota really cheaped out on the tC.
Even the plastic inside feels really cheap. But what else can you expect from a car under $20,000

Agreed. There are plenty of good things to recommend the Scion tC but the interior is a let down. I think vehicle sales would improve if a small upgrade to the interior was offered.
I purchased the tC to share with my two daughters who don't know the difference in quality. I think Scion could sell more vehicles to an older demographic with an improved interior.
That said I am on a mission to improve my carpet.

I have a 2014 and even is not the best carpet, is not bad...I live in Canada, where every winter your carpet is full of salt and ALWAYS is humid, at least from Late December to mid March. I get my car at beguin of January and after clean it last month, it looks fine and mats doesn't move, but not sure if after the last recall that Toyota had back on 2011 due the "unintented acceleration" they modified the way that mats are attached. This is just my "grain of salt " on this conversation...

I know what you mean about Canadian winters.
It looks like Scion designed the interior for easy clean up as there is a lot of plastic and the carpet is a thin nylon and low pile edition.
The Scion tC has good quality in other areas. I have no complaints about the stereo or instrument panels. I also like the nice heavy thud sound when shutting the doors.
However the carpet in my 2011 tC is lacking detail and substance.

Why does 2011 Scion floor carpet suck?!
There are more pricey cars that still have cheap interior though. From my last car it was all upgrades minus the little rattles. My 97 never rattled but my tC has a few and not a year old.
But my 2014 floor mats stay in place and work great to me

I was in touch with ACC: your authority for custom automotive carpet, floor mats, and more and Scion have not sold them a copy of the floor pan mold so they cannot create a better quality aftermarket carpet with good massback and better material.
Next time I am at the dealership I will have a look at the 2014 or 2015 and compare with my 2011.

I don't know why because Toyota have provided the Camry mold and it's my understanding the 2011 tC is based on this platform. Yes / No ?
The statement about Scion not selling their mold was made in an e-mail to me and they also asked me to call if I had questions.
The suggested solution right now is find a good upholsterer and source the quality parts from ACC. I don't know enough about the abilities of upholster's to heat form carpet and massback to fit the contours of an automobile floor.
I find the fit and finish of the 2011 tC floor carpet remarkably poor and would go so far as to say it is the lowest quality item on the whole vehicle.
I understand why it receives little attention because it doesn't sparkle or make the car handle or sound better. The good thing is the Scion looks easy to work on so in time I will get this carpet issue sorted even if I have to do it myself.
Ultimately to go with my Cement Grey 2011tC I am looking for red accents in aftermarket leather on the seats and custom carpet.

That's really strange yours is like that. Mine is pretty well molded and seems well off to me but I'm in a newer one and came from a much older car. But I'll double check mine tomorrow.
