Default Wiring Diagram needed…

Own: ‘14 tC 10 Series A/T

Bought: 13-16 SCION FRS BRZ 86 OEM TRUNK OPEN CLOSE CONTROL SWITCH BUTTON OEM, Toyota PT413-42140-WH harness for button, Directed Electronics 522T Trunk Release Solenoid Kit

Need: Know what wires do what, on the button wiring harness (it’s diagram). The solenoid is 2 wire which is a no brainer, but the 4 wire switch, without a diagram, is useless.

Trying to figure out what you're asking...you have a 2014 tC but you bought a '13-'16 FRS trunk switch/button and then you mention being the same pin-out as a factory fog light connector. What is it that you are trying to do and if it's the same pin out as the factory fog light connector, unless you were posing that in the form of a question, then what's the issue?

I'd venture to guess it's an illuminated switch, in which case you'd have 12V power in, 12V switched to the destination, 12V for illumination and a ground and your solenoid is going to have 12V power and a ground. Pretty good chance it's going to be wired just like below but a multimeter (I'm learning from @DannoXYZ ) would let you verify.

I’m trying to install a Directed Electronics 522T trunk release to the aforementioned switch and connector. There wasn’t one I could find for a tC, this I had to find another Scion model & a Toyota harness & connector. Don’t know if it’s illuminated or not. It doesn’t look like the car/open trunk matches the fog light icon on that factory switch. The backside looks the same on both of those switches. I know I’ll need to add a fuse under the switches, and add a relay. Just gotta figure out the trunk release pin out/wires. I appreciate any and all help with this Frankenstein effort to add something they all should have had as an available feature.

What you can do is probe and test existing trunk-release lines. Then match those up to what 522T outputs. So for existing trunk-release:

TEST CONTINUITY TO GROUND - one of these will be ground, if non-zero or non-infinity, it's illumination bulb
1. ohms = ?
2. ohms = ?
3. ohms = ?
4. ohms = ?

TEST FOR INPUT POWER - one of these will be full-time power with, key ON
1. volts = ?
2. volts = ?
3. volts = ?
4. volts = ?

TEST FOR OUTPUT POWER - this will be trigger wire, push release button
1. volts = ?
2. volts = ?
3. volts = ?
4. volts = ?

BUILD FINITE-STATE MACHINE TABLE - programming tool, carry over test-results above
1. will be either ground, bulb, power-input or power-output
2. will be either ground, bulb, power-input or power-output
3. will be either ground, bulb, power-input or power-output
4. will be either ground, bulb, power-input or power-output

Now you've got exact pin-out functions you need. Install 522T and connect its wires to matching wire on harness!

No existing lines for a trunk release. Only the button and the connector with wires coming out and that’s what I bought that was available for aforementioned Scion/Toyota. As I stated above I’m having to use add a fuse and a relay as there were no provisions for a trunk release in a ‘14 tC.

so the switch doesn’t bear the amperage being sent to the trunk release. It sends much lower amperage to a relay and that delivers the amperage needed by solenoid.

I take it this is a momentary switch that springs back when you release button?

Please post photo of switch showing wire colours. This will help make testing it easier.

I overlooked the first question and will answer when I finally get home from being a hospital patient.

Yes it’s a spring back type switch.
