Default 2011 Scion tC, USA vs Everywhere else (aka car differences in other countries)

Flipping through my owners manual last night, saw a few things that I wanted to discuss and see if this can be tracked down to which country has what...

Daytime Running Lights (DRL) - Canada but not USA?

Rear Windshield Wiper - ?

Leather Seats / Heated Seats - ?

No Moonroof / Sunroof - ?

Extra HVAC Venting (Under Seats) - Canada?

Additional Cubby Storage next to the lighter socket - ?

That's about all I could recall from what I read last night... if you think of anything else that the tC2 has in other countries but the USA doesn't, post it up. Figure this may be useful down the road when/if we can get parts from our creepy neighbor to the north

I know I damn sure want to look at replacing the center console area with an extra cubby space.

(also read your owners manual, neat programming trick for the auto-locking doors once you hit 12mph)

well the Zelas (UAE) has a different lip and spoiler

also i thought there was one option here that was standard somewhere else...push button start i think?

Scion Canada also has a hood deflector and side window visors

there are also all-weather floor mats...not sure who has them

Those aren't all standard features though...I think the focus of this is what is standard or available from factory, not accessories.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL) - Canada but not USA

Rear Windshield Wiper - Canada but not USA

Leather Seats / Heated Seats - Canada but not USA(as an option)

No Moonroof / Sunroof - Hard Top only for UAE

Extra HVAC Venting (Under Seats) - Canada?

Additional Cubby Storage next to the lighter socket - What do you mean? pics? wait i think i know what you mean. i think when they say storage i think they just mean the area where you can put your ipod, not necessarily a real box or anything.

It was Puerto Rico that had the push button start I believe
And Canada has the All weather mats as an accesority while the US doesn't but the US has the cargo cover (If you care about that) and Canada does not. The US also has the Alpine GPS upgrade while Scion Canada does not

I think in Canada the mud guards also come standard, not that big of a deal. I might get rid of mine.

We also get the BLU Logic hands free bluetooth system standard. I believe that is an option that you have to pay extra for in the states.

A lot of these are repeats, but I copied from another post...

So let's take a quick inventory on all the options Scion has for the tC, but didn't bring the US...
- Lip Kit (UAE)
- Pedestal Spoiler (UAE)
- RF Key w/ Push button start (Puerto Rico)
- Rear wiper (Canada)
- Leather (Canada)
- DRLs (Canada)

Just makes us even more lazy... i remember in drivers ed, we had to circle the car each time we drove to visually check tire pressure before getting in the car... Now we just use light indicators... tisk tisk

Canada doesn't require them.

ECE regulations will require TPMS for 2012 vehicles

The US doesn't require DRLs.

Sometimes I get into this thick Cali fog, and I think we should require rear foglights though. Those things are pretty damn useful, unlike the front fogs that just create glare, get broken, and otherwise do nothing. *

* Maybe adding a rear fog light into the reverse light housing would be a better use of that space than this "lets add a second reverse light" deal that some folks here are doing. It's pretty common for people taking cars to the UK to have one of the reverse lights rewired as a rear fog since only one is required of each.

I'm guessing it would be pretty easy to wire the 2nd reverse light with a switch so it could function as a fog light or 2nd reverse light. Or you can just turn on your emergency flashers in heavy fog (I've seen it in heavy snow too).

Cananda DOES require DRL's, and technically any car can have heated/leathers seats installed. We used to do that at Wellesley Scion all the time. I've delivered xB's and tC's with leather/heated seats...looks smooth

Ours get installed before the car gets to the dealer.

Currently at $1600 for leather with heated seats installed. I say currently because I have seen them go for less occationally. They are not an instock item and an appointment would have to be made, normal turn around time is 2 to 3 days.

Black leather would be soooo nice. Reminds me of the Celica. My cloth is already showing signs of fade and wear after 7k of driving.
