Default Is black really hard to get?

My dealership is saying it could be a couple months before they can get me a 2011 Scion TC in black. Should it really be this hard to get the color I want? There was suggestion by them that since the 2011 model year is close to being over that this compounds the availability problem. I really don't know what to believe, what do you guys think? Is black phased out already or something? I really can't believe that a company the size of Toyota can't make cars available more quickly to their dealers, so I'm posting here to ask you folks for guidance.

Thank you!

No way. I called my dealership and asked them for a black manual one. They too said it would take about 1 to 3 months for me to get one since they have to order one. They checked in a 400 mile radius to find one and couldn't get one at all.

But then I called a different dealership and they told me they could get me into one by Thursday of next week. They probably mistaken them for the automatic ones even though he specifically asked me manual or auto -.-

yes, dealerships only get so many of each model in each color and configuration a year. so look at how many combinations are possible per color and transmission, and then how many tc's is toyota going to make in each color and each transmission, then look at how many scion dealerships there are across the country. yeah, there is going to be a waiting period if you speciically want a black with manual gear box, hell, there is probably a wait for most colors in a manual gear box as most scion tc buyers will get automatics.

i was just damn lucky, in 2004, my dealership got a blue one with an auto, and a silver one with a manual, so ofcourse i jumped on the silvler one. luckily it was also my first choice of color, but that is just luck.

so if you want a black tc with a manual gear box, and there isn't one already available for you on a lot somewhere around here, then the dealership will have request an allotment for the next black manual tc to go to them since they already have a buyer for it. it will have to be build and shipped from japan, so it will take a good while

I would imagine the black tC would be the #1 selling color since the black color is heavily advertised in flyers, and the website.

Tsunami disaster is the primary reason why you won't find a particular color. Dealerships are refusing any swap because inventories are getting low. In about 3 months it will be back to normal.

BTW, my dealership has a black manual in stock

But we also have every color currently in stock, just not all in manual or automatic...

go to cars.com and do a search. Narrow your results by color and transmission.
