Default Black or Red?

Hey guys!

I am seriously considering purchasing a tC soon, but I am absolutely stumped about the color. I really like all the colors, but I think I've narrowed it down to black and RS 8.0 red. I like the black because I think it looks classy and edgy at the same time and will age well. I like the red because it's more fun looking and has more contrast so you can see the gorgeous roof and many details. I don't know which to choose. I don't know if the red is worth the extra 3 grand and if it will look out of place in a couple of years. I'm also considering waiting for the next release series to see if it's an awesome blue I'd like, but i know thats not likely, so any opinions or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

In my opinion, black doesn't do justice for the nice lines and body style that the tC has. I think it just looks "nice". Now, the RS 8.0 is definitely aggressive looking, even at a glance. Also, if you were looking to mod your tC the 8.0 has a couple things already done for you (like the 5axis kit we're all jealous of)!

Who knows what the RS 9.0 will be, this one just got released so if you have the patience to wait another year and hope it will be blue, go for it. But keep in mind, at this time it will be much more difficult to get the 8.0.

In the end it is ALL up to you on what you think looks better. Your car is a reflection of yourself, and especially with the tC, you can do endless things to it to make it your own. You won't be disappointed either way.

IMO, don't buy the RS. You're paying almost 4 grand to get red instead of any other color, and then you get a center exhaust which doesn't look nice and you'll have a hard time modding, and you get red stitching on seats that aren't nice and should be covered or replaced anyways. For 4 grand you can get coil overs, rims, an exhaust, a lip kit, and an intake on a regular tc, or you could get a red one.

Btw, don't let the "rare" thing influence you. I've seen way more RS TC's than I have non-RS TC's.

Solution: Buy black or red fr-s.

/thread.

Seriously though, and extra $3,000 for paint and a body kit (and yes.... badges) seems a bit much..you could boost the car for that, and put down 300+whp, or.......have red paint and a body kit.

Buy whichever you like though, becasue at the end of the day, it's your car, and you should enjoy it!

How the heck are you putting a turbo in for $3000?

Lets not be silly.

I got my rs because my son thought it looked like lightning McQueen.

Everyone loves to rattle off these value factors for add ons. Of course you can do it cheaper aftermarket. But there is something to be said for having a car your proud to own straight off the lot.

Cheap aftermarket parts? Everything I mentioned can be purchased for under 4 grand and is of high quality. In fact, the coil overs will be better quality than the RS springs, the rims will be of higher quality than the black powder coated factory rims, a higher quality stainless steel exhaust, the same lip kit or even a carbon fiber one, and a high quality cold air intake as opposed to the stock air box with a plastic snorkel.

I'm sure you guys have heard this, but in my strong opinion... Build > Bought

Anyone can buy a cool car off the lot. Why not make it your own?

Cheaper in price not quality.

Another factor to consider is financial. Adding $4g to a financed purchase may be easier for some than coming up with $4g of cash after just making a new car purchase.

Theres nothing special about having a release series. When it comes time to trade it in, you'll see that its worth exactly the same (if not less) than the regular tc2. I know about more RS models than standard ones.

At least if I use that 4k to add aftermarket parts, I can part out once I decide to get rid of the car. You'll just have a bunch of worthless parts. Trust me, I know someone parting out an RS7 and is having trouble selling all his "RS" parts. He would have no problem parting out a turbo kit.

Yup, what do you want from the RS7? I know the entire lip kit is uninstalled and ready to ship.

Kind of a late response, but thanks for all the replies!

I've decided to wait a while and after the winter to get a new car (which will also allow me to see the next RS.) But to be honest, I'm not too sure how I felt about the tC. I test drove it last week and I wasn't really wowed. I just didn't really have much fun driving it as I do in my car. I think it's because I am so used to my old car now that it felt weird driving a new car in general. In my current car I need to put more force onto the gas pedal to make it go, which I like; it's a nice build up for everyday driving. I don't know, anyone else have mixed feelings when driving it initially? I think I just need to get used to how newer cars operate

I just got a black tc2 and I like it. Once I get the windows tinted it should look really clean. With black it is all about maintaining it. I've always liked black cars, when the lights reflect off it at night, etc... anyways. I like black. I've seen more RS's than non- RS's too. A bunch of spoiled high school kids where I live.

What type of car do you currently have? I had mixed feelings when I first test drove the tC too. But now that I've had it a few weeks, I like it more and more every day. The car I had before this was an Acura RSX type S. It had a little more power than my tC.

I am a bit iffy on my car, i love it. it will be reliable with the warranty. I kind of wish I had a v6 300hp mustang though. I chose tc for, more room, fwd is better in snow than rwd and it looks nice too. i still crave a stang, but i guess one day il own one.
