Going from any vehicle that is an '06 to a 2011 is definitely a step up. Performance wise you will lose hp but gain an extra 39 ft/lb of torque.

There's going to be positives and negatives any time you change cars, but as Alvie said any time you go from a 5-6 year old car to a brand new one it is normally an upgrade. I just picked up my tC2 last week, had a modded mkv('07) gti before, and it definitely feels like an upgrade to me.

I'd say if you like the car more than what you are driving now, and it is affordable to make the move; Do it dude.

The Scion gets better gas mileage definitely, because it doesn't rev at 8000 rpm like the Si.

Like most will tell you, test drive the tC2 6MT!! And see if it's for you. The clutch is not bad at all, but a shorter throw is for sure needed. And others here are going with the TRD short shifter which is a mod done under the hood and not replacing the stock shifter. Another plus side, cost less than most and does not use premium fuel.

I personally like both cars. One of my friends just got a 2011 si and i just got a 2011 tc, the si is slightly faster from the factory but i feel the tc is alot nicer.
