Does scion offer undercoating:rustproofing?
youd have to look into a local company that offers it, the dealership them selves dont do it
where i live in new york we use salt, and the county i live in does a mixture of salt and sand, the sand is terrible.
when i bought my car my dealership offered me a undercoating and rust proofing through a local company (ziebart) for 500$, i told them i would think about it, next day i got a call from the dealership saying they'd take 150$ off, so i took it. I paid 350$ for a full vehicle undercoating and full rust proofing (both under the vehicle, door jambs, hatch jambs, where my lifts are, and engine bay) also had a interior stain proofing done too as well as an application of paint protection film laid down
since i got it with the vehicle new, i have a life time re-paint and repair warranty of defective part (must go back for inspection/respray once a year though to keep warranty - its free to have re-done every year)
just the under coating its self runs 350$ normally
if your looking for a cheaper way, you can find these things called rust inhibitors, rust evaders.. which send an electrical current throughout the vehicle to allow rust to not form on any parts of the vehicle... and i have seen them work in many cases on 15 year old vehicles that have been in new york all their lives (and living here in syracuse, the #1 snowiest city in the cont. 4

I've had my car for a year, I hope I'm still eligible to get a sweet deal on warranty for recoats of it if it fails, but I am unsure, I am in alaska now, reason I wanted dealership to do it (scion) is because if they warranty it I can do it at any scion. That's my goal anyway
when I bought my tC they said that the basic coverage that comes with the car includes rust protection for X amount of miles. I'm in Cali so its not like I have to worry about it so I didn't ask any further about it but FWIW, rust protection is included already.
