Thumbs down DON'T buy HID's from Retro-Solutions

I purchased a pair of 55W 6000k HID's for $156.73 shipped to my house. I installed the kit and it worked for the first day. The next day the passenger side light would not ignite. So I went through the trouble-shooting and swapped ballast to opposite sides. It turned out one ballast was defective.
Second I removed the bulbs to check them out, and two of the tabs were broken off inside my headlights. So now they no longer twist into the headlight assembly correctly.

I RMA'd the kit to be told by Todd at Retro-Solutions that I broke the tabs on the bulbs cause I used pressure (pushing/pulling). The real problem is the bulbs are super cheap and not worthy of $156.73.
He also told me that I broke the ballast with dielectric grease. Well the ballast didn't work right even before I put the grease in the fittings.

Anyway I paid $156.73 for the kit, another $13.00 for return shipping, and another$13.00 for return shipping back to me. They are the worst and will never get my business again. I wish I would have went the cheap route and did the DDM kit or went with my first instinct and buy the Morimoto kit from Retrofit Source.

Hope we all learned something from my misfortune.

I got mine from DDM tuning for like $50. I've had them for almost 3 years now. They are extremely bright, and people compliment them all the time. Although people flash me constantly thinking I have my high beams on. Ha.

all my kits in all my past car have been xentechid from ebay... i sold all my cars with them still in, never any problems.

2 years in my matrix
2 years in my genesis
3 years in my silverado

going strong for 6 months in my svtf... had a problem with one of them cause i attached the ballast to the subframe and the engine vibrations messed up the right side... emailed the seller and no questions asked i got a whole new single kit = wires, ballast and lights... he didnt even ask to send the damaged one back. me = happy. I believe they go for like $32-$35 shipped... (forgot the actual price sorry)

I bought my first HID kit form DDM back in 08. The kit has went through my BMW 525i for 2 years, my Chevy truck for a year and some change, and now my buddies GMC. No problems what so ever.

I've purchased DDM before and had a good experience, but you always ready of someone having a problem, and they always say DDM is cheap and should have purchased a better kit. I just thought spending more money was going to get me a better higher quality kit, but instead it turn out to be a piece of ____. Next time it is going to be DDM or the Morimoto H11 5Five kit.

Just don't be stupid like me lol

I went with the MEng Motorsports kit offered by TRDsparks. I figure they wont sell crap and tarnish their name. So you cant go wrong. We'll see how they look after install next week

I've heard good things about Meng, but if i remember correctly they only offer their kit in 35w. I really wanted the 55w for the extra brightness.
I'm pretty sure you will have a much better experience than I did bro.
