few questions
hi everybody,
i got my scion tc 2011 manual last tuesday. the only thing i was able to negotiate was the dealer fees and they ended cancelling all the dealer fee, and i also negotiate my trade in.
so far i like it a lot. the first things i would like to do is add fog lights and a spoiler.
this is my first new car, and i would like to know at what mileage the car has to reach so i can press the gas all the way. i mean, when can i drive it harder,, cause i heard that new engines we shouldnt drive it to crazy. or now a days it doesnt matter? ill like to know your opinios about that. i just want to try to accelerate the car to see how it feels.
also when i start the car and the engine is cold, a green light comes up, that is just telling me that the engine temperature is cold right? so should i wait a couple of minutes for the light to turn off to drive the car?
thanks.

If I can remember correctly, I think its 500-700 miles before you can actually beat on it. Anything before that, you shouldn't pass 5000rpm and you should not pass 60mph on a highway. As for the green light, I don't know what that is but you don't need to warm up your car unless its below zero outside.

it tells you what that light is in the manual, its cause the engine is "cold" you can drive it normally and when its warmed up to a certain point it turns off, shouldn't take long at all unless is cold out.

alright, thanks for the answers. i thought about the light that it was a cold temp, but wasnt sure and it was getting annoying looking at the light every morning starting the car, so i just wanted to make sure.
my car is around 600 miles already so ill see what it is offering tomorrow.

I've always been told told hold off on going ***** to the wall until after 1000 miles. One of the main reasons you don't want to do it other than you are breaking it in is that the engine is mapping how you drive in order to give you the best possible gas mileage according to your typical driving patterns.

Um drive it hard from the start! You need to seat those rings! Plus you need to go through the whole rpm range. Id say change the oil at 1000mi too but some dont believe in it. Also the 60mph thing go over 60. just dont be in cruise control on the same speed for a long time. Vary speeds somewhat when on the highway.

I have not read the tC2's manual yet, but one day while on the can, I read through some of the xD's manual, which said that you are suppose to drive the car while cold, but not "race" the motor cold. The xD is also a Dual VVT-I motor...
