Angry FML

So as any responsible owner should do, I read my entire owners manual before driving my vehicle. When I read the Break In period section, it stated not to drive the vehicle at very high speeds for the first 1600km. So i assumed keep it at or below 100km/hr (60mph) and I now have 420km on the ODO. So being my OCD self, I actually went to scion.ca and did a live chat to find out what was considered as "high speed" and 80km/h is it.

So do you guys/girls think i could have done any engine/tranny damage. Have any of you out there done the same mistake or worse? I just think it is absured not to list the maximum speed for break in period in the owners manual. The reason i thought 100km/h or below is because that is what my tacoma manual stated and that is even what the dealership told me for the 13' tC.

PS can anyone tell me what it says in the US version of the manual in regards to break-in period. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure your car will be fine in the long run. As long as you didn't gun it to 100 km/h or travel for an extended period of time at 100 km/h (as in more than one hour) it shouldn't harm the engine.

I had about 900 km on my car when I took it on a highway going 100 km/h as well, but it was only for about 15 mins.

well, my highway drive was for 1.5 hours but it wasn't at a constant speed. I slowed down and sped up constantly and no i did not gun it to 100km/h but i did accelerate from about 40km/h to 100km/h steadily but kept my RPM below or at 3000

yeah.. your fine, dont over react, if something blew up it would be within 36k miles anyway and the dealership would fix it. as long as your not hotrodding it and missing shifts which i think i read on here somewhere that someone blew their engine.

Think about it. Most people don't read their manual. Car manufacturers wouldn't design a car so brittle that ignoring the supposed break-in period ends in catastrophic failure.

My dad bought a Prius and was doing 90 the first day, all day and I dont think he slowed down after that. You'll be fine. I see soooo many people driving their cars like racecars with no plates and the dealer papers still taped in the window, so I wouldnt worry about it.

Ya, my dad who I talked to is an HD mechanic and he told me not 2 worry. Guess I just over reacted. But I still think it is kinda weird that they came up with 80km/h thats not even excessive speed at all.

Yes
For a motorcycle... Seating the rings for cars to me is different, you should ease them in for longevity. For performance yes drive like you stole it but you will decrease your longevity but higher numbers for that time frame.

Read actual studies and numbers on it and overall this is how it showed up.
