Default Gas Mileage?? 2012 tC rs 7.0 A/T

Maybe I used tiptronic wrong because I was just testing it out... whenever I shifted I realized my rpm's didn't drop like I thought it would so I went back to 'drive.'

Besides the point... I'm getting horrible gas mileage right now. This was before I found out you can see your average mpg.. its gone up to 21.5 mpg now. I've only hit high rpm's once or twice to sort of "break in" the engine? Thoughts on this? What's everyone else's average mpg?

You don't break in the engine by revving

I drove to Louisville from Cincinnati about an hour and a half. I got 32.1 mpg. Normally I get about 26 or 27 mix driving

I saw somewhere that the tank is 14.5 gallons big? What gas station and gas grade do you use? I'm thinking about starting on mid grade (89).
Also was it a good decision to pay toyota $18 a month until I pay off the car for free synthetic oil changes, filter changes, and tire rotations?

You could get one of these: http://www.scangauge.com/products/scangaugeii/

It shows your instant MPG, so you can get an idea of what your getting under different conditions. Just don’t listen to people who say they are getting crazy numbers of MPG. There are 3 things people exaggerate: 1) How little they paid for their car. 2) How much more they paid for their house. 3) How many MPG they get in the car they supposedly paid nothing for.

On my 2011 AT I can get 30mpg (8L/100km)... That's city driving with it set on D

If I drop it to 'manual sports' mode and really work it then that drops to 19mpg 12.5L/100km)... City driving lol

I don't do much highway driving...

I have a 2011 tC (manual) and I get about 30 on a long freeway drive, but around 24 in the city, and about 19 when I drive like an idiot with a lead foot.

By manual sports mode you mean tiptronics right...? I put it into tiptronics and started at 19 mpg on a near full tank... then I started driving so that the "Eco" light stays on most of the time (slower acceleration). Now that I'm nearly empty I have a combined gas mileage of 24.1 and got like 305 miles out of it.

I'm considering just going with Chevron 89 because that's what I always got for my civic and no one really replied to me lol.

Eco light? Dont think I've noticed this....

I use whatever gas station is cheapest.. Hess mostly. Been sneaking in 93 octane while gas $$ is lower see if the wife notices hahahaha

I think I've seen on the forums that higher octane won't do anything unless your engine has a knock (from detonation). I've concluded that its just extra money. I'd just use a reputable gas company with the lowest octane to slow buildup on engine components
