Help! what is this?
So I was cleaning my car and looked under my dash in the driver seat and saw this little thing mounted up under the steering wheel wall area.

I took my car to service the 5k mile at a local scion dealership recently
and
I'm not sure but I DON'T think it was there before!
anyone know what this is?
I tried pressing the button and such, does nothing.

That's the button for the ejection seat option, but you have to be traveling over 30mph before pressing it... ;)
But seriously, look up and behind that box and try and trace where the wires go. Are those holes at the top of the box, like for a male pinned connector to plug in, or does it just look that way in the pic?

The wires go up right under the steering wheel. Others have told me it might be something that the dealership put on so if I miss a payment or some sort, they can trigger the mechanism to shut off my ignition[I tried tracing the wires, seems like it goes up to the ignition area]...
I don't know if I can believe this is something that a dealership would do. Never heard of such thing.
No holes on the box. It's just a button that does nothing when I press it and the wires leading up under the steering wheel area. I disassembled it already and removed the chip inside. Car still works. Didn't want to take the thing of because it would leave holes.
Anyways not going to that dealership anymore. I'm sure it was them who put it on because I know for a fact it wasn't there before. They didn't even tell me which is the part that sorta ticks me off.
Thanks all.
