Default Helpful knowledge needed! :)

So i began my little valve cover project this weekend, got it off painted it, looked so nice. Long story short I got it back onto the car and everything connected and instead of putting the valve packs in I figured I would screw the 3 screws on the top to keep it down, needless to say I put thwe longer screws into the spots where they hold down the valve packs and one went straight through the valve cover and second one broke off before i realized what the hell had just happened. I just ordered a new valve cover from toyota, 400 bucks my question is, i tried to crank i over with the coil packs connected but not flush with the cover i guess you would say and it would crank up like normal but few seconds later just die and sounded like air blowing out from somewhere, I did have my intake off and the sensor unplugged. My question is is this because the one of the vlave packs was not in all the way or possibly the intake waws off that it died? Hate to sound noob but im very new to all this and just going and trying to learn along the way despite the mistakes lol

Probably having the intake off was the problem. I had a nasty crack in my other ride's intake tube, it ran like crap, idled erraticly, shut off if I did not keep my foot on the gas. Put the intake on, the MAF sensor has to be able to tell the ECU how much air is coming in. Just wait for your new parts to arrive before you really screw the car up trying to rig it. I am not trying to be an ****, just passing on what I have learned the hard way. 400 bucks for a valve cover? Ouch...

Well if you hear air blowing, or air noise when it starts than you have and air leak. Make sure all hoses, and lines are hooked up correctly. also make sure your spark plugs are tight. That would be the first thing to do. Sometimes the smallest hose or the smallest overlooked item causes the issues.

Thats what I figured, and no no worries at all not taking it "**** like" at all lol Thats what I figured cuz I was doing alot of research and I either figured that the wires werent plugged in the right spots as far as coil packs but i knew it wasnt that its hard to screw that up do to the wires are so close to which coil pack and spots they plug into, Thats what I figured though that it was the intake and the maf being unplugged I just want to get some knowledge from people so that i dont worry my butt off until tomoro morning ha and yea man I couldnt find another vc anywhere, I knew the new camrys and rav4's fit but I couldnt find one anywhere, well i did, one off a camry in north dakota but by thwe time i got it down here im my as well to get the new one from the dealer ha yea def an expensive lesson learned for my carelessness and not paying attention, I shud of left it off until saturday morning but i figured id put it all back so that i wouldnt have to in the AM. Needless to say being up all night doing that and finishing at 3am and mixing the last two bolts, my tiredness and anxiousness to and excitement to get it done cost a pretty penny. I could of had a header and cai for 400 lol and i missed hot import night saturday because of it
