Default Just got one! (A new owner)

Just picked one up yesterday.
I got the black one with manual transmission.

I've been driving cars with manual transmission for 7 years, but this one feels a little bit different.
It feels like the there is 1/2 second delay after I let go the gas pedal.
So, if I let go the gas pedal and then step on the clutch right away, the RPM would go up like 500.
I need to let go the gas pedal, wait for 1/2 second, and then step on the clutch.
This feels weird, but I guess I'll get used to it.
This doesn't really happen from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th gears, which is even more weird.

I also noticed a little bit of burning smell when I park the car and go outside.
But I remember smelling the same thing over 10 years ago when I used to have a car with 3.0L engine.
I've been driving cars with small 4 cylinders since then, so I must've forgotten about this smell.

Other than these, everything is so nice!
I've had better for each parts of the car, but nothing was well balanced like this one.
It always was too much of something and too little of something.
Meaning, I always had to give up on something to get something I wanted.
But for this one, I didn't give up on anything to get everything I wanted.
In other words, I'm as satisfied as I can be.

I didn't bring my camera, so I used my cell phone (bad quality).
I'll take day time pictures outside on the weekend if it's not raining.

that "delay" you speak of was actually done on purpose.. something about emissions..., the si also does this... its a little annoying but workable..

I haven't driven my car up to convoy street yet. I live off of L street and work of 32nd and harbor drive then go to SDSU M-TH. So those are my general stomping grounds. Sorry if I am thread-jacking.

But congrats again and very nice choice of color. Hope you are good with waxing though.

actually drive-by-wire was done for emission which led to the delay in response, theres a fix for it,a throttle controller offered by twp,not to get off subject, but the si can be fixed also with a ECU reflash..yea it sucks, but majority of cars are coming with drive-by-wire...

The throttle delay is normal as well as the burning smell. The car is new so it still has fresh chemicals (anti-rust and whatever else) on the parts so when they get hot, they smell.

I did some research on it and it looks like it's like that on all cars now... It's annoying, but I guess I'll have to get used to it.

Thanks, yes, black looked the nicest to me. I had to wait for 2 weeks to get black.

This sucks, but I'll probably have to live with it. It'll be ok if the rev just hangs at the RPM where I let go the gas at, but it annoys me when it goes up about 500 RPM after I let go the gas pedal and step on the clutch.

I see. That's nice to know. I think the burning smell was gone this morning. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention. I'll check again tonight.

I thought the issue was that Toyota used a really heavy flywheel. That seemed logical to me... But the computer itself controls that? That changes my plan a lot.
