Did you notice a drop off in range when you switched to the short aka stubby antenna? I know me asking this is probably gonna get flamed but is it a genuine TRD antenna? By the way I love the whole look of the vehicle.
I just got a new to me 2014 tC and I am going to work on the look of it but a little at a time. I am not rolling in money so somethings I will have to save . PS this is my first post and in 2019!!!! lol

Yes, it is a TRD antenna which is available online. I don't know about the reception because I don't actually use the antenna. I suspect it is less than the stock antenna...lol...
I prefer to use my DVD player and my Bluetooth and iPod connection to my iPhone to listen to my music. I don't use the radio.
The Main Reason I got rid of the stock antenna was after the Big Wing spoiler was installed, it kept on striking the long stock whip antenna every time I opened the hatch.
Also I had the tip of the TRD antenna plasti-dip Orange to match my body color. A nice little Custom touch
Normally, I only wear my Mask at Night but, new Cali health requirement by our Governor says
I must wear it outside during the Day and maintain Social Distancing
