New '13 tc (Not sure what to call this build thread.. Suggestions?)
Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of looking for a new car. Looking at a 2013 scion tc and 2013 forte Koup sx. Was wondering how every one likes their tc? Any one regret purchasing one?
Looking foward to hearing some responses,
Dan

i personally enjoy mine very much, and considering i looked and drove both of the cars i did feel that dollar to dollar you are getting much more with the TC. ya there are some minor issues as there is with any car in the price bracket, (hard plastics, door rattle & when the gear box is cold it you can get it wrong) but all in all these issues can be fixed easily. Better tranny oil, and the rest of the DIY's to fix the rest are on here. But dollar to dollar all in all the TC is one of the best out there, IMHO
This newer model tC rocks! Definitely worth it. I can see you're not going for a performance car anyway, so this car is perfect for you as is. there is always the option to turbo it if you'd like.
Get the manual one if you can - its slightly cheaper and it sounds so much better than auto.

I bought mine, and 2 mods i'd do is clazzio seats, and OEM audio.
clazzio seats make your car interior fricken feeeel so much better. looks and feel, and OEM audio makes your car feel like an ampatheatre with music.
My build thread is here if you want to see what i've done, very happy with mine. Go 6speed if you do decide to buy one though, I read a lot of people regretting auto's down the road.

well it has less power and torque but also weighs less too...but if that car is more sluggish than the tC then the choice is even more clear if you find driving fun.
does the koup sound any better than the tC (manual trans)?

I chose the TC2 over the Forte because it has a Hatch. The stereo deck unit can be changed out without the need to replace the entire dash trim which saves a little bit of money, but the big thing here is that you aren't dealing with some low quality aftermarket piece of plastic that more than likley doesn't fit like the OEM dash trim. There is a far larger community with these Tc's in America than there is with the Forte koupe. The aftermaket options are also more vast for the TC2 over the Koupe. A good portion of unique aftermarket options for the Koupe have to be bought directly from South Korea which is a big nono to me since that just means $$$. You can also buy more internal OEM engine parts and other various parts to do repairs yourself for the TC2 over the Koupe here in America. There are more Toyota dealerships around than Kia which helps alot.
Well my old car ('03 Cavalier) bit the dust last week. I just have to finalize some paper work on a new '13 White tc when I am back in Toronto next weekend and I should have it up here in thunder bay a few days after
Cant wait!!
Cant wait!!
Finally got my car today, 2013 Alpine white tc 6m.. It took a while to get all the paper work sorted out ( I live in Thunder Bay but bought the car in Toronto). Very happy with the car, not to happy with the dealership that accepted the car.. they werent even willing to wash it (covered in salt/sand from the drive up). Probably for the best since im **** about how my car is washed.

My pet peeves of my car.
Door rattle, fixes.
Bought 2 of these, put in trunk/hatch and on my door skins. AMAZING difference in noise reduction, total 200 bucks spent with like 6-7 hours of work.
Audio-
OEM + is amazing, wait til they have a sale and definitely jump on it. I got mine for 1k shipped (because i had to pay 100 shipping to alaska) I am very happy with it.
Exterior-
Get a clear bra of some sort, I had it put on and it has definitely saved my paint. I hear about people here who say we have cheap /thin paint. I drive on roads where they use rocks instead of salt to give traction. Front of my car looks better than the rest of my car. Definitely recommend getting some.
uhm. Thats pretty much it, make it like a tomb and then enjoy the high quality of music. Reduces noise, vibrations and im enjoying it much more than I did before.
Just a quick (maybe dumb) question. The owners manual says avoid sudden acceleration for the first 1600km (1000miles) is there a specific RPM to keep it under.. For example if I keep it under 3500 rpm, will that allow everything to seat properly with out damaging anything.. Sorry for being a newb..
