bulk pack and door kit of dynamat, 36sq feet of padded dynaliner (1/8 and 1/4 inch) on order for sound deadening on plastic panels ordered, awaiting arrival
kenwood single din head unit temporarily til i get a touch screen
hertz hi energy 3 way components up front, hertz hi energy coax in rear
arc audio 1200.1, and 300.2 amplifiers powering fronts/subs, deck power on rears just for fill
two jl audio 8" w7 subs ported in the hatch

welcome! just a quick question what HID's have you gotten. i know you said you had bad luck but depending on brands it might just be how they were all made. ddm tuning and mobile hid are pretty good if you have more bad luck.

first hid purchase was ddm. they never arrived, and wouldnt refund money. same with another site. went with ddm again this time, ordered heads and fogs. one kit arrived today, but packing slip said 2 were sent, so i gotta figure out why i didnt get my other lights now
hids are in, love em! dynamat came in, system is ordered, and bought a pioneer avhp4300dvd head unit that ill be installing tomorrow

That's weird you're having trouble with DDM Tuning. Bought 2 sets at the same time (1 for my car and 1 for my wife's) and they shipped everything the next day, all in 1 box.

installing my double din screen tomorrow. pioneer avhp4300dvd, with ipod audio/video cable and steering wheel control interface. i hate the double din dash kit they make for em because of gaps, so im gonna try my luck at doing my own. already have an idea, and if it works, ill take pics for anyone else that may want to try it. if my idea works, itll be a quick, painless kit to make

this is pretty much turning into a build thread so ill have many more pictures to come. system is gonna be a slower process on the install. screen is going in today, but i just ordered speakers/amps yesterday, so i gotta wait. in about a week or so, i should have everything, then its just finding time to do the install and build out my trunk..

alright, so got my indash in and made my own kit because i wasnt too pleased with the one that metra had to offer. put a cpl in with fixed face screens and there were gaps on the sides and i just wasnt happy. sooo...heres my write-up and my own dash kit
alright, first things first, buy your screen! lol.
putting in aftermarket screen, you use the factory radio brackets. i had to modify the factory radio brackets to set the screen back a little further so my trim piece would clear and sit just behind the factory bezel. in the picture, the yellow arrows are pointing to the little dimples on the brackets that hold the piece in place so its screwed on right. i originally just drilled these out, as shown on bracket on the left, but when i got it in the car it put the radio too far back and i had gaps. so what i did was just took out that center part between holes, red dot area so i had a track of sorts to slide radio until i found the sweet spot, which happened to be right in the middle of the two holes for my screen
then on the factory radio bezel, i cut off the little pieces of plastic that are labeled with yellow arrows in order to give me a little play room on my trim piece cuz it sits back behind the dash. that way i had some clearence so i didnt have to cut my trim ring perfect
before
after
now for my trim piece, i didnt get a before shot, but it was a generic double din trim ring that was oversized and made to be trimmed down to size. i mounted the radio and put factory bezel back on to see where it sat in the dash opening so i knew how much to cut. trimmed it down as neccesary, and then double checked the clearence on the backside of the factory bezel to make sure it wasnt too big and hitting anything
once i knew it was cut right, i clipped it around my head unit, then put the dash back together, and i had my new kit! radio sits about flush with front of dash, instead of sticking out a bit like factory radio ****, and no gaps on any of the sides. nice and clean

thats what the trim ring looked like before. from an old kenwood double din. local stereo shops should have something laying around to use
