Default New Scion tC 2G

New owner of a 2011 Scion tC Cement 6-speed auto. I love it. I probably should have bought the manual, but I couldn't find any at my dealer. They only had two of the new tC.

Welcome! I have yet to see Cement in person, but I like what i have seen on this forum.

My dealership only had automatics on the lot too and they wanted to put me in one today, but I insisted that they locate a manual and I got it about a week later.

I got the only MT at the dealership, I kinda wanted Magnetic Grey but ended up settling on the silver one.
Seems like they vastly underestimated demand for the MTs just about everywhere.
Anyway welcome to the forums

My dealership only had automatics, they had to drive 120 miles round trip to get me my manual and the color I wanted.

Yeah, the auto is a bit slower, but at least it's sequential. Thanks! Gonna mod it a bit, but not too much, as I really like the stock look of the tC. Very clean.

I feel bad for you guys that had to drive so far to find a cement tC. I literally went to the dealership to goof around. Ended up leaving with what I have now. Nice guys get lucky sometimes I guess...

You don't have to buy what they have on the lot. Many times they can either catch one being shipped into the country or buy one from another dealership. For instance, the only xB my dealer had on lot was teh 2010 RS xB. My wife didn't like the purple mirosaki color or kit and she wanted a white 2011. They bought one from another dealer about 360 miles from our dealer and had it shipped. As for my 2011, all they had on lot was an auto silver tC. I hate silver on cars and wanted a black and refused to buy a auto (love stick). They told me that a new shipment was being brought over in about 2 1/2 weeks. 3 weeks later, my 2011 was at the dealership with 3 miles on the odo (filled up the car for me). When you are paying 20k, get exactly what you want and don't settle for less. Odds are that you are gonna be driving this car for at least a couple of years. Make sure you like it. I didn't get exactly what I wanted with my 2007 and my wife had to listen to me _____ and moan for 3 years...

^ Yep, and with the pure price you might as well get the one you want if you can wait. The dealer isn't going to slash the price to get you to buy the one on the lot.

My VW was auto, and my wife also had to hear me B&M for 3 years. I think she insisted for me to get the manual this time around.

See, but I love the car. Auto versus Manual wasn't exactly a dealbreaker, considering the Auto is still sequential and I'm not going to be racing the thing often. It's just a daily driver. Also, I wasn't going to pay to have them ship one to me.

Quick thing though...anyone else have really weird...like...weird paint splotches on their cement 2G? I'll have to take some pictures, I guess. They don't come off with a good wash or wax...or any chemicals I used. It's really weird...and irritating. The weird splotches are even on the Scion logo in the back.

And what's everyone's mpg for city driving? I get like...18.4. Which is pretty pathetic.

Under the light, you can see these splotches of white paint?

Ignore the white stuff in the actual Scion letter, this picture was taken while I was trying to get the splotches up. Look above the actual Scion nameplate, and around the S where the silver and the paint is kind of washed out, white-ish.

The lower right corner dots. They're white.

It's hard to actually get good pictures because of the cement color.

Hey Trib

I have the same issue on my Nautical Blue tC2. I picked it up after it was detailed and there is a white filmy rough spot the size of a clenched fist on the driver side of my trunk spoiler. I've no idea what the hell it is but I'd like it rectified!

Maybe it's the clear coat?
