Default New to Scionlife

hey guys, i just signed up to the forum, and i was thinking of purchasing a tc2 and i had a couple of questions to ask before purchasing and i was wondering if you all could help me out? Im not the best with cars, but i know a little bit here and there

1. cant decide between super white or black..=/

2. Should i get the oem foglights, or wait for aftermarket ones, and if i get aftermarket foglights are they difficult to install?

3. which accessories are a must or good to have on the tc?

my opinion between those 2 colors would probably be the magnetic gray, what options are you gonna get on your tc?

Black starts looking nasty quick, but looks the best when clean

manual, debating about foglights oem or aftermarket, and the spoiler, but other than that i'll have to see how much i have left in my wallet to spend,

edit:
i've been wondering about the five axis kit, this is my first car that i actually get to mess around with because previous cars were shared, in what ways does the five axis lip kit change the car?

First off welcome to the forum! Now for fog lights, stock will work and look the best and putting others in is a pita and can be costly. Just have it done right and installed as an option. It's not much more and you'll only spend another few cents a month on it. The lip kit just adheres to your factory bumpers and sides so it does not really change anything other then an aesthetic difference. Hope this helps

1. I am debating the same exact thing. black does the best job covering the A pillar since it doesnt have the matte tape. also it covers the less flattering angles of the car and the fat c pillar.

IMO white will accentuate the pure black roof, the black a pillar, the windsheild, which will create, what i call, a 2 prong look where the white from the C pillar will hang over the car only to end abruptly.

if you remove the black a pillar tape, there is still a slight black line where the hood meets the base of the a pillar. I kinda like how that looks, but if you look at other cars most have the color flow from hood to a pillar.

however white does highlight the black grills which are hidden on the black.

i've thought alot about this alot. lol

also MightyP is really shaking up my decision with his metallic gray while errol is really bringing sexy back with his cement

^ LOL, thanks XerotC!

To answer the original questions:

Color? I love the Blue, actually. I think it's a great shade and you'll notice how few people have it. But I've always been partial to blue cars...

Fog Lights: Like Papa Bear said, go OEM. You can change out the bulb easily enough if you don't like the color light it puts out.

Other "Must Have" Mods:

- Front license plate mount. It's great you both are on here before actually having the car. Tell the dealer not to drill the holes for the front license plate. Then you can pick up a mount that attaches to your grille.
- Lowering springs
- Fix for the single reverse light (blank out extra spot or add a 2nd light)
- HID headlights
- Intake
- Exhaust

There are many other things to do, but I'd say those are your basics.

Default Mine

I have the white 2nd gen. ...going on a month now. I just got dark tint....and that really goes great with the white!

I got the oem fogs.......and didn't haggle for it. but I was very close to their asking price.....and was scheduled to talk to a Honda dealer the next day. So, ......the Scion dealer called me 30 min after I departed and made me a 2nd lower offer for his car. Pretty much got the rear spoiler/fog's for free.

Wait til the end of the month. Have prior approved financing setup. Have Cash in hand (check)..........and I think you should be set.

I think I paid $20k and change.............

^^^ COMMON MISCONCEPTION: Truth is, dealers hate cash deals, and getting money off because you have cash, almost always, never works.

for 20k, did that include foglights and spoiler? also how much wiggle room are you able to haggle for the tC? cause most dealers are telling me about the "pure pricing" stuff but i still see some tC's at 18300, with freight, so i've been wondering about the pure pricing.

as for the car, i was thinking of painting my rims black, does that help in which color is better for a tc with black rims?

for blanking out the reverse light, do you mean just tinting the right side? and for the license place hole, if they have it already pre-drilled, would it be an a$$ to ask them to order the same car without the pre-drilled holes?

unfortunately i think so. all the dealerships in my area predrill them the moment they arrive. but i think asking them to order a new car shouldn't cost extra since it is, after all, pure pricing. only thing it will cost is time, maybe a few weeks to about a month.

Ordering a car should NEVER cost extra. From a logistics standpoint, pre-ordered cars are the way to go. You sell a car that doesn't take up lot space, zero risk it'll just sit, reduced risk of accidents on the lot, etc, etc. It's a "lean" process with Just-In-Time delivery at it's finest. Toyota, of all companies, should support it since they're usually the model business/logistics classes use.

Anyway... @tubbster: Once you know exactly what you want, start making phone calls. Don't be afraid to let one dealer know what other dealers are offering. I can't see too many dealers letting "Pure Pricing" stand in the way of a sale. Especially if it's something as simple as holes in a bumper.

i've asked a few dealers, most of them are just saying go with the dealer that's cheapest and not even putting up a fight for the price... its ridiculous, any here in rockville/baltimore maryland area know of a good scion dealer who great prices? i tried the dealer section in the forum but didnt do much

Then go to the one without pre-drilled holes, or that's closest, or that will give you the most for your trade-in, etc.

will do, just a question, for the alpine video thing, do you need the alpine radio accessory or did you just install your own headunit?
