Default Opinions on extras...

I've only had my car for a little over a week, and finally got the windows tinted. I had been debating getting the fog lights when I bought the car but wanted to pay in cash and not finance anymore than I had planned. After paying taxes, etc I have the cash and was wondering if they make a difference. I want the dealer to install them so they are warranted, and because I have no knowledge when it comes to DIY with cars and would prefer to do it stress free. Anyways, do fog lights help in the fog?

Also, anyone have the rear bumper applique? Pros/cons? Does it really help protect?

And lastly, wheel locks? Are they necessary?

Thanks for the opinions! I've searched on here for info on fog lights and its mostly after market. I'm asking about the dealership installed fog lights. If you have them, do you use them/like them? Thanks again!

The dealership fogs are the same exact product as you would buy on TRDSparks or Ebay, all 3 are OEM. The only difference is you are paying a ridiculous amount at the dealership vs. $100 online. If you don't feel comfortable doing them yourself and don't care about the wasted money then by all means get them at the dealership. I personally prefer to do everything on my car myself because I know nobody will take care of my car like I will.

As for the functionality, this has been discussed multiple times. They don't provide hardly any light output forwards, they do provide a very small amount on the ground right in front of your car that could help in parking lots at night, but that's about it. They are MOSTLY cosmetic.

I bought the fog lights myself and then had them installed at the dealer for the same reasons as you. I was nervous about working on a brand new car. The fog lights provide more horizontal vision, but nothing forwards. I don't like that they only work with the low beams. (they shut off with high beams.)

rear bumper applique, I would've bought it if it didn't say scion. But otherwise its a sticker that protects a part of your bumper. Its hardly noticeable.

Wheel locks will be one of the most necessary parts. All depending on where you leave your car.

Fog Lights:
they do work in the fog, but are they 100% necessary? it all depends on the driving conditions in your area/how comfortable you are driving in the fog. but overall, they are mainly for looks. as Brandon said, you can buy them cheaper else where. as far as installing it, TRDSparks also includes instructions (which are most likely the same instructions the people at the dealership will use)

Alex, the fog lights not working with high beams are probably a safety feature Toyota put in since you're not suppose to drive in the fog with high beams on. so in theory, if they are being used for their actual function, the fog lights and high beams should never be on together. But as far as going for looks...i'm sure Wiring Master Yuriy could think of something haha

Bumper Applique:
IMO (<<in MY opinion), they are absolutely useless and again, something just for looks + added "Scion" branding. HOWEVER, they do work just like the optional clear bra in the front (which protects the paint from rock chips and such while driving). I have spoken to people that did go for this option and they have told me that it is very useful because they use the hatch often. Meaning there is a lot of loading and unloading, in which case, the bumper applique helps avoid the chance of scratching the bumper while putting something in the hatch (usually larger items like a bike).

If you don't care for the look, then dont get it and just be cautious when loading/unloading

Wheel locks:
Like Alex said, most useful, but it all depends on where you leave your car. If you just have stock rims, you might be less interested. If you upgraded to the TRD rims, you might be more interested. IF you plan on getting rims later on, don't waste your money now since you will most likely have to buy new lugs/locks for those new rims anyways.
