I've gotten one ticket in 14 years of driving (well, at least for speeding. I had one at-fault collision citation in 2004, first time driving on ice and snow, but that's irrelevant here).

I've been pulled a couple of times, but courtesy and a military ID smoothed things out. Overall, seems like a waste of money.

BTW, if you cover your car in phony go-fast crap, lower it, add a fart can, and look like a douche with earrings, flat-bill baseball cap, soul patch, metal grille, etc., don't expect any mercy. Impressions make a difference, and if you advertise to the world that you're a rebel or a loser, expect to be treated as such. Not the I'm OK, yer OK, don't judge me bull____ that makes us feel better about ourselves, but the reality of how the world works.

X2 ^^ Havent had a detector since I was 18, and back then all it did was make me slam on the brakes every time it made a noise, 98% of which was a auto door somewhere. Havent had one since, nor have I gotten a speeding ticket since. I dont speed in town or side streets but at a minimum, I do 10 over on the highways, faster if its a long trip. Been pulled over at least 15 times and the only ticket I have ever gotten was when I had the detector sitting on the dash.

just ordered my V1.. gets here tomorrow..
had the escort before and wanted to see about this one... lots of great reviews.
one thing I really liked was that the valentine one allows you to upgrade your radar... so when technology gets better and they come with something new all I have to do is send my unit to valentine and they upgrade the unit for a fair price..

Radar detectors will save you from a ticket EVERY time unless they're using LIDAR. Then you're f'ed. My mom has an Escort, and it occasionally can catch LIDAR being used on another car, but usually by the time it's telling you there's a cop using it, it's too late. But the key is, don't look like a douchebag. If I were a cop who pulled over a guy in a tricked out tC who looked like a douchebag, then I'd give him a ticket, mostly for being, once again, a douchebag.
